EXIT HOB TALLEY
FORFIHONTHS
“Mustang . Jack. That Wild
• West Shootin’lron." Undoing
of “Meanest Man.”
Deserted bt lawyer?. Hub" Talley,
AUa.iita’s police court star, stand-alone
end forlorn today, facing five months
at hard labor in th. stockade for a se
ries of escapades. Talley. having
pained much legal knowledge by reason
of his many clashes with the courts,
pleaded his own deft trse before Record
er Broyles yesterday afternoon, ques
tioning the witnesses and Interposing
objections here and there, but life legal
wisdom failed to save him. He took
the count In short order.
“Hub’s" loneliness In court marked
the climax of his kaleidoscopic career,
as heretofore ho has always been rep
resented by able counsel anti has fought
his cases to the finish in the higher
courts.
In addition to the long stockade term,
his vacation from the strewts is destined
to prove of much longer duration, as
Judge Broyles also bound him over to
the state courts In bond of SI,OOO on
the charge of carrying a pistol. This
was the 46-caliber six-shooter—real
Wild Western type with which he
tried to "shoot up" the town Monday
night.
For firing “Mustang Jack" this is
the name inscribed on the weapon -in
Sherrer's restaurant in Peachtree street
“Hub" was fined $100.75 or 30 days.
For later shooting from a cab win
dow, he was given the same sentence.
For failing to appear in court Wed
nesday afternoon, when the. cases were
set for trial—ditto.
He also has two old terms of 30 days
outstanding, which will now be en
forced.

LONDON, June 14.—The Board of
Trade inquiry into the Titanic disaster
will be rushed to a conclusion. This
announcement was made by Lord Mer
sey. the presiding officer, when the sit
ting was resumed today. Lord Mersey
said he would sit tomorrow instead of
taking the usual week-end adjourn
ment. Sir Rufus Isaacs staid that the

tron would not be available until the
week after next. He suggested that the
smnming up be commenced without
waiting for Rostron.
The met of Inquiry wdll find that the
Californian defaulted from duty. Lord
Mersey. the president, without equivo
cation. said:
"I have no doubt that the Californian
did see distress signals; that they were
signals from the Titanic, and that tile
Californian ought to have made efforts
to get to the Titanic.”
