Ellse Hansell, is being pleasantly en

Hansell's cousin. Mr. Llewellyn Hill
yer. Jr.. Is also her guest at the home
of her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew-
Hansell.
Dr and Mr'. William J. Blalock will
leave the middle of August for Colo
rado for a month's stay. They will visit
Colorado Springs and Glennwood
Springs. Other Atlantans who will go
to Colorado for their summer Jaunt are
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Francis West.
Miss Mai Horine gave a matinee par
ty at the Forsyth this afternoon for
Misses Henrietta Yerger. of Jackson.
Miss., and Margaret Boswell, of Chase
City. Ya., who are being delightfully
entertained as guests of Miss Ferol
Humph ties.
Mr. and Mrs. William A, Speer will
leave Tuesday for a stay of a few w eeks
at the "Marlborough - Blenheim. Atlantic
City They expect to spend several

turn home for August, leaving in Sep
tember in their touring car for an ex
tended motor trip to the White moun
tains and to Canada.
Misses Edith and Antoinette Kirk-
Patrick return home tomorrow from
Wrightsville Beach, where they have
had a delightful stay at the Seashore
hotel Miss Fanine Lou Cozart, of
Washington. Ha., will return with them
for a visit. At a recent auction bridge
party, given by Mrs. Harvey Anderson.

PHILIPPINE TEACHERS
WASHINGTON July 12.—A national
campaign for teachers in the sc-hools of
the Philippine islands has been begun
by the Federal government Owing to
the lack of applicants for the numerous
places in the Philippines, the bureau of
insular affairs has announced exami
nations for teachers to take place Au
gust 28 and 29 in nearly’ every princi
pal city in the United States The cal!
is principally for graduates of colleges
normal schools, polytechnic and agri
cultural schools. Also teachers with
successful experience are desired.
