A feature of the morning german to
be given tomorrow at the Oceanic will
be a series of fancy dances by some At
lanta children, Misses Marion Stearns,
charlotte Meador, Erskine Jarnigan
and Marie Stoddard and Master Ed
ward Van Winkle.
Th» Atlanta guests take especial
pleasure in the deep sea fishing, a
novelty for people living in a far inland
city A party on a deep sea fishing
trip this week caught I<»R fish in an
hour. The members of the party were
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Raine. Mrs. J.
Frank Meador and Messrs. Dugas Mr-
Clesky. Hugh Scott and Brigham
Young.
Recent arrivals from Atlanta whose
coming augments the pleasant social
colony at the Oceanic are Mrs. R, V.

croup of friends at a hearts dice party

being assisted in entertaining by her

FUTURE EVENTS
The dinner-dance at the Driving club
tomorrow evening will be a pleasant
break in the monotony'of the season
for the ?rownuns. There will be a
number of parties for supper, one of
these to include Dr. and Mrs. W. J.
Blalock, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence May.
Mr and Mrs. E. C. Peters. Mr. and 1
Mrs. George Dexter.
M'. and Mrs. Milton Dargan will have
a small party, and there will be several
parties of young people dining on the
terrace before the dan<;e.

Miss Helen Barnes, the voting daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Em
mette Barnes, of Macon, whose presence in Atlanta as the guest
of Mrs. .John Marshall Slaton, has occasioned much of this week’s ;
entertaining in the younger contingent. Miss Barnes is a popti
lar college girl, who will make her debut next winter, or the ’
season thereafter.

MACON. GA., July 12. -Mrs. Dixie
Jarrett, possessor of a gold bracelet
given in person by the late King Ed
ward. of England, upon the completion
of one of her before-royalty perform
ances. is in Bibb cotinty Jail charged
with lunacy, as the'result of a warrant
sworn out by a young man named F'red
Haygood, who claims to be her son.
Asserting her sanity in rational
terms. Mrs. Jarrett declares that Hay
good is onl.t an adopted son. and that
he is persecuting her because when she
made her will recently she omitted him. I
J-'or fifteen years Mrs. Jarrett has
toured the world, giving exhibitions of
her strange magnetic power, which she;
has even demonstrated in jail since her '
confinement for the benefit of fellow-I

MACON SUBURB DESIRES
TO BECOME PART OF CITY
MACON. GA., July 12.—Residents of
Cherokee Heights, a populous isubu’b
of Macon, last night took steps which
may result in annexation The citizens
unanimously petitioned the city coun
cil to annex their territory. Council
win next week ask the legislators from
Bibb to introduce a bill authorizing an
nexation.

I BOY BATHES WITH FISH
IN HOTEL FOUNTAIN POOL
CHICAGO. July 12. The large four
tain in the Pompeiian room of the Con.
gross hotel was used as a bathing pool 1
by Sammie Wertheimer, seven years
old, who divested himself of shoes and
stockings and waded and rolled with
the goldfish for an hour, delighting
women and men patrons of the hotel.
He was watched by bis father and
mother. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Werthei
mer. of Neu York.

night for a visit in North Carolina and

spend August at Tate.

landed in England, after a delightful
voyage, and are spending some time
in London.
Mr. and Mrs. George C. Speir leave
Atlanta next Tuesday for New York,
whence they sail on Thursday for a
trip abroad. They will travel In Italy,
England. France and Germany, return
ing the latter pari of September.

returned today from a pleasant stay

the Georgian Terrace yesterday after

Virginia, where they will visit friends.
They will then go to Philadelphia,

for a motor trip through the East. A
stay of some time at Atlantic City and
in New York will conclude the trip.
Mrs King and Miss King will remain
away until October.
Mr. and Mrs. William D. Ellis. Jr., and
Miss Adgate Ellis have opened their
summer cottage at Tallulah Falls, and
will spend the remainder of the sum
mer there. The hospitable home will
be visited by many of the young friends
of the hostess and her young daughter.

Americans bound for Florida are held
up here by the rigid quarantine estab
lished against bubonic plague. Ore

treatment for two days as a plague
patient, died today, but it can not be
determined definitely whether he was a

BOY HURLS BRICK IN
BALL GAME AND KILLS
CHARLESTON. ILL . July 12.- Wal
ter McPherron is dead today as the re
sult of being hit by a brick thrown by
Jease Burrows. The boys were plajing
ball when the quarrel began. Burrows
was charged by the coroner's jury with

home, took watches from the safe of
Moore &■ Evans, jewelers. That is the
story h® told the police today.
Fnder arrest Wang with two detec
tives went to his home. They found
pretty ®ighteen-year-old Mrs. Wang
entertaining friends.
Saying that h» had a business deal
n n with the men. Wang got some pa
pers and was taken to the police sta
tion. His speculations, It Is asserted,
have netted about $4,000.
Wang was a confidential clerk and
had access to th® safe where the watch
es were kept. They were shipped to
Nev York and sold at auction.
