When mid-summer merges into autumn there’s a tendency to
change in fashion’s whims change being the element that keeps
" n ' ,s ' anniered effects make the most impressiona-
. ble variance in the lines of late summer models.

corded cheviots and even fine gray
uml we have also a number of hamlsome black models.
There need be no hesitancy about taking up the new Pannier
drapery, because of the imagined change of lines, for this style has
men fount! to be attractive and decidedly graceful. The Panniers
hat e the necessary fullness so arranged that the hips are perfectly nat
ural. the drhpjng being arranged at about knee depth.

Some of the styles are so completely modified that they are simply
cut in Pannier outline, showing a cutaway effect in front and tapering
otl to <i pointed finish in the center back, and some hang stra.ight to the
bottom instead ot being draped. I here are so many Pannier effects it is
oitlieult to tell of all. Come and let us show them to vou.

I must admit to being rather In
love with some of those aforemen
tioned and attractive silks, which
combine the qualities and textures
of both taffetas and foulard, for
thtre Is positively a Parisian pi
qnaflcy In the quaint early Victor
ian primness of these designs.
Some show a small hair-line check
with a tiny. brightly colored
flower set exactly in the centre of
each diminutive square. while
another distinct and decorative
series is of the chintz order, where
the colored pattern shows .up
well on a ground of the old ivory
shade known to fame and fashion
as '‘Pain Brule.” Sometimes, too.
