Deadlock Over Appropriation
Bill Ended, and Adjournment
Is Planned for Saturday.
WASHINGTON, Aug. 22.—With the
legislative appropriation bill ready for
Its third journey to the white house,
prospects for adjournment were bright
er today, and a determined effort will
be made in the senate and house to end
the present session of congress next
Saturday night. It is believed the pres
ident will sign the legislative bill in
its present form, now that the house
has reluctantly yielded on the commerce
court provision in the measure.
The breaking of the deadlock over the
legislative bill operates for a more
speedy adjournment. Congress now has
three days remaining this week In which
to adopt conference reports on the In
dian bill, the postoffice bill, the sundry
civil bill and the army bill, an agree
ment upon which will practically clear
up the important matters now hanging
fire, work on private bills and public
resolutions passed kinder a suspension
of the rules being a clearing up of the
calendar. Congressman Curley, the
newly appointed assistant Democratic
whip, continued his efforts today to
keep a quorum in town, and issued a
warning that no member could justify
his absence in the closing days of the
cession.

CARE OF THE TEETH
IMPORTANT TO HEALTH
Without perfect teeth one can not
Tnjoy perfect health. Decayed or im
pel feet teeth are not—only painful and
continuously annoying, but a positive
menace to health and even life.
Do not neglect your teeth. Upon the
first sign of decay have them treated
and save suffering. Or, if the teeth are
already in bad condition, have them at
tended to at once.
The modern scientific painless meth
ods in use by the Atlanta Dental Par

and the most difficult operations are
performed quickly and without pain.

PEACHTREE“FOGGED”
BY BURNING CHIMNEY;
ALARM IN BIG HOTEL
A huge gust of smoke and a smell of
burning wood swept Peachtree from
Houston street to Duckie this morning
between 7:30 and 8 o’clock.
Everybody began to look for the fire.
Shopkeepers went through their estab
lishments from cellar to garret. The
clerks in the Piedmont gave orders that
immediate search be made of every
room in the building and policemen in
vestigated cellars.
No lire was found, but the smoke
continued to come. After a second
search thd origin of the smoke was
located in the Candler building. Some
one was burning out a flue.
For a long while the smoke caused
consldetabie speculation and uneasi
ness.
