.Taking Real Estate Dealers as

■'Gas line is cheaper than oats, and
motor vehicles cheaper than horses
for the business man. In this ever
increasing rush in the commercial life
of the world, it is only those who can
cover .the greatest number of points
in the shortest possible time who get
the. business. It is efficiency of ser
vice.” says an Atlanta auto expert.
"fon-stder the real estate business
alons: there are the collectors, the
men. who must go out and look over
properties, those in the selling de
partment who take prospective buyers
over the ground, and several other
departments that demand the pres
ence sometime during the day, on
property the company is handling.'

"Tjie automobile is five times as
fast as the horse. In other words,
the; firm that employs automobiles,
can do five times more business, than
if it used horses. Hence, to get the
same results with ’he horse as can
be obtained with the motor car, it
would have to have live horse-drawn
vehicles to every one previously used.
This would mean the expense of live
horse-drawn vehicles, and live men to
drive them, as. against one motor ca
and .one man.
‘■.This fact alone shows the economy
and efficiency of the motor vehicle;
fr. The same way, if condenses the
business and reduces the number of
men necessary to handle the business,
the latter point being acknowledged
to be a great factor in high efficiency.
“Many business men following the
line of real estate have not installed
the motor vehicle, principally, for the
reason of the initial cost. This, of
course, is something to be seriously
considered, but the business man who
uses the horse-drawn vehicle can not
invest his monv > n anything that

HUDSON MOTOR CO.
WILL ERECT LARGE
FACTORY ADDITION
The rush of demand among motorists
of this city and other sections of the
Vnlfed States for the latest Hudson
car th? New Hudson "37" —today
came to a head in the. announcement
by J W. Goldsmith. Jr., the Hudson
dealer, of the fact that a great new
factory building is to be added to the
tltj-aere model Detroit plant of the
Hudson Motor Car Company to cope
with the situation.
Previous to the announcement of the
new car it was necessary to utilize
236,411 square feet of floor space. By
the’time tlie announcement of the new
creation was promulgated motorists
had plhcdtr about 1,<»00 orders for it. It
was then seen that the demand would
press factory facilities to the utmost.
The .result has been that the square
feet of floor space will be increased
to approximately 300.000, the new sac
tory addition being 500 feet in length
63 feet in width ami two stories it.
height. .
The Hudson company has occupied
its-, model plant less than two years, and
in that time it has been necessary to
add approximately 60,000 square feel
of floor space annually to tak- care of
the demand for the pioduct. The plant
was completed only two years ago.

That the motor truck can success
fully iTplace the horse fur work in the
fields, and upon the soft ground has
been demonstrated by J. Sereomb. of
Toronto, Canada, a landscape gardener,
who has employed a three-ton truck at
such work with large profit to himself
for several months.
The Federal boasts of the distinc
tion of being the first motor truck to
invade Alaska. A motor vehicle, to op
erate in this region, must be sturdily
built, with an engine of exceptional
power to overcome the poor roads,
which are nothing more than beaten
Fskimo trails, and must be "ever
ready."
WIRE BREAKS INSIDE
OFTEN RESPONSIBLE
FOR AUTO TROUBLES
"Sometimes, among other unheard of
things, a wire breaks inside of its in
sulation and gives no exterior sign of
the break,” said Emil Grossman. man
ufacturer of the Red Head spark plug.
"This may cause all sorts of trouble,
and very often the blame is laid at the
door of the ignition department. Spark
plugs are changed and magnetos pulled
down, so that it is a good thing, before
taking everything else to pieces, to
make sure that there are no interior
breaks in the insulation cable.”
