Up to this time the prison has had its

The laundry will occupy tbe entire sec
ond floor, and prisoners will do all the !
washing for the family of 900. The cob- |
biers' shop will be on the top story. Not |
a shoe will be bought outside the walled |
inclosure only the raw materials—and the (
prisoners will wear band-made footwear,
costing in the market from $5 to $7.
Work Is progressing nicely on the $200,-
000 hospital, which was started some time
ago. Features of this structure will be
the physician s well appointed office, a ;
recreation room and sun parlor for pris- i
oners, a tunnel connecting with the main ’
bi ilding. and better facilities generally ;
for earing for the government's sick.
A house for Deputy Warden W. C. 1
Hawk, situated east of the prison and 1
outside tbe inclostire, will soon be erected. |
at a cost of $25,000. This will be similar I
to Warden W. H Moyer’s house on the'
west side, and costing $30,000.

contain 300,000 cubic feet of stone taken
from Stone mountain, and this quantity
