THE PROFITABLE HEN.
If the comb of the hen is plump and
red, and the color of the face and wat
tles a bright color, it is a sure sign that
she is in good health. If she is con
fined she will show great restlessness,
activity and be full of business when at
liberty. She will ever be on the alert
at sounds. But if the comb be shriv
eled and the edges are a purplish red
and the hen be listless, sleepy, and
slorv in her movements, she is out of
condition, being sick or will be soon.
These conditions are the same with
males, in either sex they should have a
clear, bright eye. Brilliancy of plumage
of an active laying lien is another sure
test. Note the close-fitting smooth and
bright surface.

LAND FOR SALE.
1,360 ACRES, MIDDLE GEORGIA
Here is one of the biggest bargains,
on the market. The owner has to sell,
and in order to close out before the Ist
he has cut the price just half its real
worth. The former owner of this splen
did plantation made enough money to
loan to his neighbors about $75,000.
The place will easily pay for itself in a
few years. There are about 600 acres in
cultivation; 300 acres in pasture under
wire fence, with running water, bal
ance timber. Has 17 tenant houses, all
in gopd condition and occupied; one
six-room residence in oak grove; cot
ton gin, saw mill, barns and other out
houses. Made last year 150 bales of
cotton, over 3,000 bu. ot corn, 400 bu. of
potatoes, 350 bales of hay, besides a lot
of other stuff. There are 100 acres of
bottom land on this place that make
bale of cotton and 50 bu. of corn to tho
acre when properly cultivated. Located
on main public road and in 2 1-2 miles
of county seat. $15.00 an acre will buy
it, on easy terms. You can cut this in
small farms and sell to neighbors for
double this amount.
