More Poultry on the Farm
c
With all 1 lie natural advantages for poultry raising in our
favor, why should not Georgia lead in the production of poultry
and eggs? We can; but it will take time and
a determination not to play second fiddle any
longer. We have the climate for getting out
chicks in the early winter or spring, or. for
that matter, all the year round. The very
lowest priced houses will answer if properly
constructed. Let us raise our feed and a va
riety of it. too.
The manure from the fowls, if properly eared
for and mixed with soil or road dust and kept
out ot the weather until used, will be worth
many dollars each year in building up the land
for grain and vegetables.
If you can not afford to get pure bred stock
use the best of your common fowls, and care
for them in such a manner that they will feel
that they must get up and lay ami produce
something to pay for such excellent attention.
Thev will do it. too.
Just as soon as yon can get a
a trio or a pen of thoroughbreds.
Not merely for the name of the
thing, bul for the money there
is in handling them.
Get up and do some of the boosting
yourself. I pity the man who has to
be coaxed or pulled along by his wife
or his neighbors or anyone else. He
will be a failure from start to finish.
Os course, if you feel that you can’t
do tlie pushing and your wife can, for
goodness sake give her a chance and
do not try to hold her back by pulling
on her apron strings. Cut her loose

chickens on the farm if she could have

poultry houses that she will not be
