SLAYER OF SON FREED
UNDER BOND OF SIO,OOO
DALTWN, GA., Dec. 20.—“Vncle Bob"
Davis, the aged Confederate veteran
who on .Monday, December 9, shot and
killed his son. Hewlett Davis, has ob
tained his liberty, making the SIO,OOO
bond set by Judge A. W. Fite.
In tin- habeas corpus proceedings held
before Judge Fite at Cartersville,
' Judge Glenn, representing Davis,
told of the old man's broken health,
and succeeded in getting him admitted
to ball, the amount being placed at
SIO,OOO. None of the relatives fought
the effort to gain his freedom.
This means that there will be no ex
tra session of the grand jury in Jan
uary, the investigation going over to
the regular session in April.
