The new opera in English. "Cy
rano.” was heard by a large assem
blage last night, the boxes and the
dress circle being filled with beau
tifully-costumed women and their es
corts. After the performance, the
Capital City Club was the scene of
many informal supper parties. The
' club dining room was decorated with
pink and white carnations and palms,
with flags draped on the walls.
A feature of the evening which gave
pleasure to the two hundred assem
bled guests was the singing of Mr.
Riccardo Martin, who gave several
old-fashioned Southern melodies—
‘‘My Old Kentucky Home,” "Way
