salesmanship and his friends predict
that he will do well in real estate.
He hails from South Carolina, but has
been in Atlanta five or six years.
Church to Start Building.
Although the Central Baptist
Church has owned for several months
its lot at the comer of Cooper and
Whitehall Streets, the erection of the
church is not expected to start before
90 days. The board of deacons had a
meeting the other night to talk about
plans, and will have something defi
nite to announce in a short while.
Manufacturing for Peachtree.
Light manufacturing will soon start
in the lofts of the building at the
northeast corner of Peachtree and
Cain Streets. The Southern Candy
Company has leased from J. Carroll
Payne, owner, through Fitzhugh
Knox, builder, the second story of
this building for candy manufactur
ing and the first floor for retail pur
poses.
Johnson Motor Co. Lease.
Another automobile concern has lo
cated on Peachtree. The Johnson
Motor Company, agents for the Stev-
ens-Duryea, the Little Six and the
Chevrolet automobiles, has leased
from Dr. J. W. Roberts, through Tur
man. Black & Calhoun agency, half
of the two-story and basement build
ing at 456 Peachtree Street. The
lease is for five years and the con
sideration $3,000 a year. This is the
south half of the building, the other
portions being leased to the Hendee
Manufacturing Company, makers of
the Indian motorcycle.
