of a strain on the highly sensitive
nature of Miss Keller, and resit prior
to her lectures is necessary.
The Atlanta Chapter of the Daugh

Miss Keller to come to Atlanta before
she retired permanently from the lec

Huerta Opens
Campaign on Spies.
MEXICO CITY, Dec. 19.—Rebel
f i es in this city, who are in the pay
of General Emlllano Zapata, are keep
ing the Zapata insurrectos in touch
v:th the movements of the Federal
troops.
General Huerta to-day ordered
General Blanquet, the Minister of
War, to overhaul his department
heroughly and arrest all on whom
suspicion might fall.
The rebel bands are Increasing in
strength and are enlarging their ac-
t;cities. Twelve villages and hamlets
have been wiped out in the past 48
hours within 25 miles of this city.
Kit'tv non-combatants were killed and
h place was looted before it was
burned.
Federals Kept Divided.
Bv means of guerrilla tactics the
Zapatistas have kept the Federal
fics divided and by means of
no- ledge of troops’ movements se
lf-’ through secret channels they
.re enabled to ambush the Govern-
nt troops in the mountain districts.
• is estimated that there are now
> Zapatista rebels within the Fed-
i territory which surrounds this
As Zapata is said to be co-
ivting with the northern rebels,
indications are that the capital

Ammunition Short.
\ e ve ammunition shortage faces
in Government. There are
rounds of cartridges left in
fmil owing to the reckless use
munition by the Federals. This
: he insufficient to resist a con-
attack on the city. No more
• mmunition can be secured unless It

and Puebla, joining the
Zapatistas.
."co Government to-day advertised
rambling privileges of Federal

PROPER TANGO STEPS
SHOWN BY MISS BAIN
ISSUE. SITS
Expert Lays Particular Emphasis
on Grace and Precision of
Each Movement.
There is tangoing and tangoing.
This much Atlanta society lias
learned in the brief time that Miss
Donna Bain has been giving exposi
tions of the modern dance steps at
the Piedmont Driving Club.
Dancing, of course, Is not a diver
sion with Miss Bain. It is a profes
sion. Consequently, it is not surpris
ing that she glides and dips and floats
about a ballroom floor with consid
erably mere aidless and grat e than
the mere amateur.
Young society women—and the
young men as well—have been great
ly Impressed by the dances shown by
Miss Bain. They have wondered that
there could be so much difference in
the tango as*it commonly Is danced
at all of the society functions and as
it is demonstrated by this young
woman whose home was In Atlanta
until six years ago, when she went to
New York and then abroad to make a
close study of the various dances of
the world.
The tango, for example, Miss Bain
dances with a rhythm and grace that
takes away from her interpretation of

to-day declared Representative Dono

mond P. Hobson yesterday, challenged
the Alabaman to a Joint debate on the
subject of absenteeism
“The genial Captain Hobson is side
stepping as usual.' laid Donovan. "I
challenged him to debate the ques
tion, ‘Resolved, That absence from
Congress by Representatives In good
health Is honest and Justifiable,’ with
Hobson taking the affirmative. Hob
son came back with the statement
that he will debate 'the question of
criminality, to include appearances
before grand Juries on charges of
irregularities in the liquor traffic.’
“I have no knowledge of the work
ings of a grand Jury—that Is to fi&y,
none has ever passed on any acts of
mine at any time—and I can not de
bate a question I am not familiar
with.
“The issue between Hobson and me
has been absenteeism, and there has
been no evasion of the issue on my
part. It seems pitiful to be obliged
to address these matters to Alabama
Instead of to Washington, where Hob
son’* duties demand his presence.”
