Wholesale Houses Here Open\
Spring Season With Distinc

. \
The first week of the wholesale mim-‘
nery season, for spring and sumemr,
was one of the best that the big whole- |
sale milllnery houses of Atlanta have
ever had and the second week promises
to be even bigger and better. |
The number of bills sold by the dif
ferent concerns catering to the milll
nery trade during the past week were
many, and amounted to more money on
the average than bills sold in previous
seasons,
Creations in hats that are truly dis
tinctive are being shown., Many novel
ties are on the market this season and
retall merchants should have no trou

ever,
J. Regenstein Company, 1. L. Rhodes
Company, and the Kutz Company, are
three of the largest wholesalers of milli.
nery in the South. Thelr stocks are
large and varied and many numbers

and Atlanta.
Atlanta offers this year the finest dis
play of millinery that has ever been
‘shown 'in this séction and it is to the
Southern merchants’ advantage to come,
to the Atlanta market and make his
purchases.
Shipping facilities from the primary
markets of the IZast are poor, and buy

will find that it is very difficult to
have shipments made after their stock
is bought. There {8 a possibility of not
receiving spring goods, until after the
season has passed, and this condition
would mean that a lot of dead stock
would be left on the shelves of the mer
chant.
Styles change, and none faster than
ladies’ hats. Every season sees some
distinctive change in the make-up of
millinery. This being the case it is ad

Looks for Big Year
Three or four weeks of good weather
are needed, in order that business may
piek up, according te Mr. Little, presi
dent of Dougherty-Little-Redwine Com
pany. The inclement weather that has
prevailed during the first month of the
new year has made it almost impossible
for some of the men of this company
to get out on the ruad, and in turn has
retarded the sale of spring and summer
merchandise.
“Merchants do not like to buy goods
when the weather is bad,” sald Mr.
Little, “and really you can not blame
them very much, because the days we
have been having are enough to give
anybody a fit of tke blues. But 7ust
let a little sunshine in, and, then one
sees the difference.’”
This house is looking forward to a
