HNcw York, June 26.—There was further
liquidation of July nt the opening this
morning and an effort made to break tho
market below 10c. But at 10.03 such resist
ance waa met that prices quickly rebound
ed and July sold up to 10.13. The reaction
waa aided by steady cables from the Liver
pool market. Trailers on that side are
not Inclined to follow the present decline,
prices being regarded at low enough. In
fact, Liverpool would look with more favor
upon an advance In the old crop options
than otherwise. Hoot Mies on that eld©
this morniug were 15,000 bales nt yesterday's
prices. There has been nothing in the
news to cause the present decline, and it
I* looked upon as purely bear manipulation.
The fear of July notice day is hanging
over the market at present and until that

cided support, but prices are now near

.iew York, June 26.—Thei~ ......
In the essential features of today’s market
from those of the previous days. While
operators for the decline were still much
lu evidence and considerably a factor In
depressing prices, there was n steady out
pour of liquidation. This selling, while not
precipitate., nevertheless seemed to be lim
ited In volume only by the ability of the
market to take It without n violent break.
The general aspect of the dealings, the
same ns yesterday’s, was.thnt of emisUintly
sagging quotation* nil along the line, with
ho resistance to amount to anything In any
direction. . /:
No one group of stocks suffered more than
the rest. The losses were most severe nat
urally In the highly speculative Issues, like
Rending. Smelters, Coppers snd the small
Industrial*., but the standard shares for the
need part were equally weak, testifying t<>
a scarcity of buying orders from really lm
few offerings of these stocks were accented
at all were taken only at wide concessions.
In the stock market the majority of the
active railroad stocks showed ndvnnci
opening, extending to 4 in Boat
.flc. The Topper stocks were weak
Anaconda and Smelting off 1*4 and Amal
gamated 4. Delaware and Hudson was n
r ilnt lower and Northern Pacific opened off
points.
During the greater part of the first hour
the mnrket was active and weak, and on
the selling priivB made further declines,
following yesterday’s stamp, and the bear
sentiment became widespread.

night's prices. The tone waa uncertain, ow
ing to the approaching notlep day on July,
but there waa a general feeling that around
10c the worst had been discounted.
With the rains In Texas the crop
placed In a very rfood position and general
reporta are now of a hatlsfactory tenor.
Under these circumstances it will be rather
difficult to bring about much of an ad
vance In prices, particularly In view of the
decline In the stock market and the exten
sive liquidation that has beep going on In
July. On any advance It la more than
likely that cotton will be for sale unleaa we
have another bad turn Of weather.
New York, June 26.-There waa a buret of
liquidation aoon after the opening of the
•took market this morninx that carried
prices down In a break. It waa Mid to
come from pool. Insurance and indtvfdnal
sources. There was no support except scale
down, and that produced by short covering.
The opinion was expressed during the
course of the session that-the only way the
present political situation could be recon
cl led was through o'Iteoldatlnff market,
which seema to be taklnjc place. Owing to
the conflicting nature of the various factors,
however, we are of the onlnlon that the
Mfer policy will be to maintain h neutral
position. We would not sell stocks on
weak spots, hut upon rallies. In buying,
the liestcoAse would be to select dividend
payers returning more than .44.P**' cent
on the amount of capital Invested, and we
would buy them only, when weak, after
drives. The financial situation la very un
certain at present, snd the profesrionsl
element Is evidently organlxed Into a Strang
bear party. It Is necessary, that moderate
profits should be sought, and that the stop-
order should bo employed to rut short
losses. Conservatism will repay those who
exercise It during the text ten day*, on
whichever side of the market they may see
fit to act.
