HOUSE BILL NO, 201
STRONG BT OPPOSED
THE ATLANTA FIRE INSURANCE
AGENT8 ARE SOLID
AGAINST IT.
Atlanta fire Insurance agents, and
agents all over the state aro strongly
opposed to the passage of a Mil now
before the legislature known as sub
stitute for house bill No. 301. This
bill was left over from last year and
has again been brought up for con
sideration. Tho bill does away with all
warranties contained In tho policy os
to the condition in which tho nssured
should keep his bulldlngs-and his books
and would allow a man to get Insur
ance on buildings and then let his fire
protection rust to pieces, or to keep
no books or records of-buslness, with
out affecting his policies.
Business men nlso regard this bill as
harmful to their Interests, aa In view
of th* San Francisco troubles, many
companies cannot now get re-lnsuri
and art obliged to write only the
lines, cutting down thslr customers In
many cases, and the paesage of such a
law would have the effect to force
many companies to Itave tha stats, as
It would give them no protection
agalnat fraud. Merchant* and others,
who even now are having difficulty In
securing sufficient Insurance, would
feel the pinch very much If any com
panies were to be forced out of Qoorgla
by the passage of such a law.
Frank Ltlley, a well-known Insurance
man of Philadelphia, where he hae been
connected with the middle department
ot tha ,'toyul Inauranre Company, has
been transferred to Atlanta, following
tho merger of that departmant with
Manager pargan'a office. Mr. Lttley
has an expert knowledge of all the
rlske In Virginia and the Carolines,
and will nunaga th* map desk her* for
those states.
