TWO ARE INJURED
IN AUTO COLLISION
Special to The Georgian.
Savannah. On., July 1*.—Dr. and
Mra. A. G. Bonton were both Injured In
an automobile collision here yeaterday
afternoon.
Their machine collided with an auto,
In which were J. K. Fried, of Mobile,
and three ladles.
The auto overturned, falling upon Dr.
and Mrs. Bonton, breaking Mrs. lion-
ton’s arm, and Inflicting other Injuries,
while Dr. Bonton woa Injured about the
chest. It was thought for a time that
he had sustained possibly fatal Internal
Injuries.
The occupants of the carriage es
caped Injury.

Raleigh, N. C., July t*.—The altua
tlon at Salisbury la quiet, but ths mili
tary la In charge and the sheriff Is
hopeful that he will be able to main
tain order. Men from the surrounding
country are at Salisbury and It was
only that the sheriff hod gotten Henry
Gillespie, the negro under suspicion of
having murdered the Lyerly family, out
of town, preventing a lynching, despite
the guards.
Other negroes who are suspected of
being Implicated In the crime are be
ing sought and' if any of them nre
found a lynching or a bloody clash be
tween the mob and the authorities Is
certain.
LIVELY SESSION
OF CITY COUNCIL
A short, but lively, session of the city
council Is looked for Monday afternoon.
Among the matters that will come up
for discussion will be the mayor's veto
of the ordinance allowing the Louisville
and Naahvllle to use the sidewalk on
East Hunter street at apy point as
roadway for vehicles to enter the
yard.
Mayor Woodward neither approved
nor disapproved the ordinance passed
at the last session of council allowing
the Atlanta Ice and Coal Company to
use Piedmont avenue, In front of the
factory, for scales. Mayor Woodward
declared he was opposed to Showing
corporations or private Individuals to
use the city streets for such purposes.
There will be no report from the
special committee on gas franchise.
There Is likely to be a bomb exploded
relative to civil service.

Selma, Ala., July 13.—Mra. Pettua,
wife of United States Senator Edmund
VV. Pettua, died at her home here at 3
o’clock Sunday. Mrs. Pettus had been
sick since her return home from Wash
ington and her death was not unex
pected. She was 82 years old and waa
married to Senator Pettua 82 years ago.
The funeral will take place this after
noon at 4 o'clock from the family resi
dence on Alabama street, and the re
mains will be laid to rest in Live Osk
cemetery beside her aon, the late
Franda L. Pettua.
