at Port Jervis, N. Y.

Baltimore, Mr!., July 27.—The recent
announcement that the Confederate
Home for Mothers and Widows,
Baker street, near Monroe, will be

the Inmates have' left, except five, four
of whom will soon go to make their
homes with close friends or relatives.
The reason for the closing le somewhat
confused, but It seems to have been
caused by s dispute between the two
elements of the association which man
ages the home,
The bdme waa f/funded in 1112 by
Mrs. John K. Cowen and others. Un
til two years ego It received etate ap-

pleasantness was caused by a mis

resignation or Kirs. Claiborne and the
subsequent appointment of a new
board of managers by Mrs. Cowen.
