WOMEN CAUGHT
IN BUCKET SHOPS
DURING A RAID

New York, Aug. 11.—Four alleged
bucket shops, three of which ara on
Broadway, were raided' by the police
snd detectives yesterday on warrants
Issued at the Instigation of Assistant
District Attorney Garvan. Many of
the prisoners taken were women.
The bucket shops were all branch
offices of the John A. Boardman Com
pany of Philadelphia. These are de
clared to be backed by the Haight and
Free re crowd whoa* shops wers dosed
for frauds.

front door of his little homo for years,
J. B. Arbour, aged ?0 years, a highly

large stone, put the gun between his

head, and pulled the trigger with n
stick. Ills head was almost blown
from his body.
