higher. Pennsylvania lost 3-8, South

The feature of the stock market In
the first hour was the drive that was
made at Reading. Southern Pacific,
on the other hand, was bid up 2 1-3
points. At the end of the first hour,
covering of shorts and some support
ing orders caused a moderate rally, on
which part of the corly losses were re
covered.
