HOW DOES GASOLINE
AFFECT ASPHALT?
What effect haa gasoline on paving
I* a question being widely considered
and which Is being given a test In
Atlanta.
It la claimed that gasoline le ex
tremely dbrllmrntal to asphalt, disin
tegrating It and causing It to Inst but
a short time.
Commissioner of Public Wurkij II. L.
Collier, when asked his opinion, slated
that he was watching with Interest
what effect the gasoline had on as
phalt In front of the garages on Pryor
street. Mr. Collier salil that the asphalt
In that locality waa kept saturated with
gasoline and that if it was Injured the
garages would have to make repairs.
This test will be watched with ho
little Interest, nnd If It Is found to be
true that gasoline Is detrimental to
paving, a law will doubtless follow-
making automobile owners equip their
machines with pans. In which to catch
lha drippings from the tanks.
