AT THE DRIVING CLUB.
The first of the series of concerts will
be given Saturday evening at the Pied
mont Driving Club and the occasion
will be one of great pleasure.
A number of dinner parties have
been planned and there will be a great
many people who will drive out late In
the afternoon to enjoy dinner. The
concert will begin at 5:30 o'clock and
continue until $ o’clock.

The front parlor was tastefully dec
orated in Southern smllax and early
autumn flowers. The mantel was
banked in ferns and dahlias.
The bridal party entered to the
strains of Mendelssohn's wedding
march, played by Miss Ellse Armor.
The bridesmaids, Misses Alice Cre-
dille, of Dalton, Oa., and Sara Hutch
inson, of Greensboro, wore white lin
gerie frocks and carried armfuls of
pink roses. They entered with the
groomsmen, Messrs. Millard Walker
and Monroe Hutchinson. The bride and
groom entered together and took their
places before an improvised altar. The
ceremony was performed by Hev. B. L.
Graham, of Shady Dale, Ga., while
Miss Armor played Schumann’s ,% *Trau-
merel."
The bride's w'eddlng toilet was
blue taffeta; made prlncesse. She car
ried an armful of bride's roses and as
paragus fern.

MRS. GOODHART’S TEA.
The tea given Saturday afternoon by
Mr*. Elmo Harrison Ooodhart waa. In
the nature ot a farewell to Mlaa Thom-
bury and Mrs. Stovall, who will leave
soon for Paris, where they will iqake
their home. The occasion was a beau-
tlful one, the Hemphill home being
artistically decorated with roses and
lilies, palms and ferns.
Invitations Included all the friends
and pupils of Miss Thombury and Miss
Stovall, and during the afternoon num
bers of prettily gowned women called.
Mrs. Goodhart was assisted In re
ceiving by a charming bevy of young
girls, and was becomingly gowned In
sheer white mull trimmed with lace.
Miss Thombury wore a handsome
toilette of white rajah silk, fashioned
with Cluny lace.
Mrs. Stovall’s beautiful costume was
white crepe de chine, trimmed with
Brussels lace.
Mrs. R. A. Hemphill wore black lace,
and Miss Cora Hemphill waa most at
tractive In blue silk trimmed with lace.

UNIQUE BIRTHDAY PARTY.
Orandma Darby waa the interesting
hostess at the Home for Old Women
Monday afternoon from 4 to 6 o'clock.
Many called, wishing her many happy
returns of this-her ninety-fifth birth
day.’ The parlor was beautifully dec
orated in white and pink roses, the
gjft of Westvlew Floral Company. On
the veranda waa auapended Japanese
lanterns, compliments of J. M. High
Company. Refreshments were served
at small tables, having carnations as
centerpieces. The birthday cake, the
gift of Nathan’s baker}', was very
handsome; aglow with Its ninety-five
bright candles. The day was a happy
one for Mrs. Darby, as she sat In the
seat of honor, surrounded by loving
companions, and received the congrat
ulations of friends. She received many
gifts as every one united In making
the day one of much pleasure.
Among the gifts received were: Sher
bet from Mr. W. G. Both well; Ice cream
from Childs cafe; box of wafers from
Mr. T. 8. Lewis; cake from Miss Ju
liette Heller; candy from Mr. Fred
Garrow; carnations, fruit, candy, cakes,
wine, Jelly, handkerchiefs, hose and
bag's .of money, each containing nine
ty-five bright new pennies.

the Baracas of the World, on Sunday
afternoon. October 16, at 3:30 o'clock.

meeting, as a very nice program will
