8ome one in an upper office of the
Century building; threw a lighted cigar
or cigarette on one of the Atlanta Na
tional Bank’s awnings Wednesday
morning and pretty soon the entire
awning was in a blaze. Bank clerks
and cashiers ran here and there, helter
skelter, trying to devise a means of
saving the building but the flames con
tinued on their merry way until a man
In the baaement brought out a patent
fire extinguisher. This held matters
down until the chemical company from
the Alabama Btreet station arrived,
which put a complete finish to the
blaze, and Incidentally gave several
spectators In the second floor windows
an undeslred bath.
