one of the first roads to be surveyed
by the federal highway department a
number of years ago, and is by .a
number of milse the shortest route
from Macon to Augusta.
As one of the speakers pointed out
at the meeting yesterday, this sec
tion of middle Georgia ha>. not re
ceived one foot of paving from the
highway department and they think
it is time something was being done.
A determined effort will be imade
in the next week to get the highway
board to include this route also
their paving program, as it is ■
tainly the logical route to Augusta
from Macon. The limestone dirt has
already been put down from Mil
ledgeville out four miles
intersection of the Sparta .and Sand-
ersvillc road, and has been held
»t this point for several months
awaiting the decision of the board.
CHRYSLER ANNOUNCES REDUC-
TION OF PLYMOUTH PRICES
Beginning next Monday, Chrysler
Corporation wall inaugurate a
Bales policy under which the Com
pany will compete in the lowest price
automobile market.
The Plymouth full-size, four-door,
five-passenger sedan will be reduced
in price from $0115 to $625 f. o. b.
Detroit. All oMier Plymouth model-
will be similarly reduced My $05 to
$70 under present prices.
Of wit 19,000,000 passenger car;
now licensed in the United States, wc
estimate that approximately 9,500,-
000 were purchased ns either new or
used cars at a price of less than $500
or $600. Although half the oars in
use were purchased above that price
cla-s and in the price class in which
Chrysler, Dodge and De Soto cars
occupy so important a place, it is
obvious that buyers of limited pur
chasing power ci mprise over half the
market for all automobiles. Progres
sive policy calls for responding to
this demand in the low price range,
used in this country are sedans and
Fifty per cent, of all passenger cars
it is accordingly important to bring
the four-door sedan pnrticuinrly
within the lowest price range.
Chrysler Corporation has i its ex
isting Plymouth manufacturing fa
cilities at Detroit one of the newest,
largest and best equipped automobih
plants in the world. Through the
Company's wide-spread distributing
organization it is able thus to give
the public a ear meeting the Chrys
ler standard of workmanship
quality a’,d that car to rrl! in
lowest pi ice market.
This new program 5- n normal de
velopment of ..ur policy. The offi-
ing of the fir t Chrysler car in Jan
uary. 1924. changed the trend of de
sign and engineering in the industry.
1-atir. to meet the public's demand
for lew priced six .and eight-cylinder
lines in the Chrysler quality class,
the Company developed the lowest
price eight-cylinder car in the world
ns well os the lowest price six-cylin-
d r car to bear the Chrysler name.
The new price schedule is made
possible by the fact that without re
designing its facilities or products,
and without additional investment in
plant, the Plymouth car can be prof
itably produced in large volume at
the lower prices. The car is already
designed and in production; more
than 360,000 Plymouth* or its pre
decessors have been sold; and the
plants and facilities for larger pro
duction already exist.
