Mr. John IV. Shinholser, u well
known farmer and citizen of Bald
win county, passed a birthday a
versarv Tuesday. December 17th. He
is a year, one month and a few days
older than the writer. They were
class mates at G. M. C. in their early
boyhood and a friendship and kind
ly feeling have existed between them
during the years. Mr. ShinhoDer
fills his time with activities on his
Indian Island form in the South
eastern section cf the county, and
works hard every day. The Union-
Recorder extends him the heartiest
congratulations, with the wish that
his life will be extended many ytars
The members of the Robert E. Lee
Chapter at their meeting held at the
home of Mrs. J. F. Bell Tuesday of
last week decided to send the Con
federate Veterans and widows bas
kets of fruits, etc., during the Christ
mas season. Mrs. R. W. Hatcher was
named to prepare and sec that the
baskets were delivered. This means
that it will be carefully done.

farms, according to advices from
the national capital. The experi
ment in rural rehabilitation will be
under way by next spring, it is un
derstood.
Those to be aided—both whites
and negroes—will be selected from
Georgia and other southern states.
It is said the government will buy
land and resell it to the tenants un-
