Containing all the statutes, and the substance j
of all the resolutions of a general and public na
ture, and now of force, which have been passed ;
in said State from theyuar 1620, lo l hey ear 1822,;
both inclusive, with occasional explanatory notes
and references, and a list of the statutes repealed
or obsolete To wliieh is added an appendix, |
containing the constitution of the slate of Geur- j

acts as relate lo towns, counties, internal uaviga

above laws into effect; wilh a copious index to j

Digest, repealed or altered, it may bn obse ved, j
that tiro legislature of Georgia are in tho constant i
practice of repealing, altering, or amending law-s j
passed at their previous sessions, to that with nt
such a digest, or compilation of them, as is now
respectfully offered to ihe public, it actually re
quires a lawyer, or a person who has devoted
much ttmo to tho examination and comparison of
the dill’ rent enactments of each succeeding se3
sion of the leg slature, to bo acquainted with all
tho laws which are of force. And having witnes
sed with much pleasure the Immense public utili
ty and popularity of the digest compiled by Oli
ver II Prince and also having tfo doubt but a
similar compendium of the laws from tho time of
that publication down to the present with tho ad
dition of the precedents, on lbnns, which will be
placed in tho appendix, and which will add great
ly to the public utility of the work, and to the fur
therance of justice, would be very acceptable to
the yuljlic, the compiler has ventnred upon the
rduotts and important underinking. Ilowovor,
not relying altogether on his own experience of
having been a member of the legislature during

I have examined a Jigo-t of the Laws of Geor

I have attentively examined a Digest of the
Laws of Georgia, from t2 182 ft inclusive,
and find tho work is oxecuted vvith much jud*,
rnent and accuracy, by A. Foster, esq. of Colum

prove valuable to every citizen who feels desir

tices of the inferior court, justices of the peaco.
clerks, sheriffs, 4 c-to possess themselves of tire
work as soon as published.
THOMAS GLASCOCK.
Wrightsborough, sth June, 1830.
Sir—As far as 1 have yet had an opportunity
of examining tho manuscript copy of your digest,
of tho laws of the state of Georgia, I highly ap
prove both of its plan ami execution. Tho vol
nmo cannot fail to answer well the purpose for
which it was intended, lti tho appendix there
are a number of precedents or forms, which ap
pear te have boon modeled with accuracy, and in
strict conformity to tho digested statues from
which they were drawn; and without doubt will
add much to the Value and usefulness of 'he
work, as a mean (in the hands of the justice,, of
tho peaco, justices of tiie inferior courts, clerks
sheriffs, young prm titionersof tho law, and oth
ers) in errying the above named laws into effect
vvith greater facility.
I am sir your obedient servant,

who lias kindly promised as early as other en
gagements will permit to lake it through a. care

correction shall ho found to ho necessary and
proper.
Tho great public nidify of such a work must

will fully satisfy the public, that that utility lias
