Group Trying To
Make Christmas
Happy For All
To ensure all families in need
of assistance receive help dur
ing the holiday season, Jackson
County Holiday Connection was
established to coordinate the
efforts of organizations serving
children and families. In the past
five years, more than 2,228 fami
lies have been assisted.
For the second year, Holiday
Connection will include the
Holiday Toy Store, which is a
centralized location for donated
gifts. There, parents who have
received a letter of acceptance
can shop for a set number of toys
for their children.
There are many ways citizens
can contribute to the success of
Holiday Connection. Individuals
or businesses can donate money,
adopt a family, donate a toy or
toys for the Holiday Toy Store
and provide gift cards (in incre
ments of $20 or $25).
To participate, a Request to
Assist form needs to be com
pleted by Dec. 3.
Individuals and agencies such
as churches are asked to contact
Family Connection if they are
providing assistance to specific
families to avoid duplication of
efforts.
For more information on either
receiving or providing assistance,
call 706-367-3021 or e-mail jack-
sonfamilyconnection@yahoo.

THE WILDS...Our senior high
school students have just
returned from a long weekend
spent at the Wilds Christian
Conference Center located in the
mountains of Western North
Carolina. The Wilds is one of the
premier conference centers in the
U. S. The facilities and food are
first class, and the activities are
challenging and fun.
The students heard excellent
teen-oriented messages from the
Wilds staff. One of the messages
dealt with dangers and teen traps
that can be found on the internet.
The students had a great time
and came back physically tired
but spiritually refreshed. It was
four days well spent.
