Eddie Willard Bridges, 75,
of Commerce, died Monday,
February 18, 2008.
He was born in Jackson County,
son of the late Richard and
Nancy Clemmons
Fleeman Bridges,
and was a mem
ber of Berea
Baptist Church. He was a United
States war veteran of the Korean
Conflict, and a plant engineer.
Survivors include daugh
ters, Susan Bruce, Commerce,
Kathy Wilbanks, Jefferson, and
Faurie Brown, hula; brothers,
Julian and Jimmy Bridges, both
of Commerce; a sister, Virginia
Stowe, Commerce; eight grand
children; and two great-grandchil
dren.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, February 20, at
the Berea Baptist Church with
the Rev. Verlin Reese officiat
ing. Burial was in the Jackson
Memorial Gardens.

Anthony Richey
Anthony Wayne Richey, 44,
of Commerce, died Sunday,
February 17, 2008, at Atlanta
Medical Center.
Born in Jackson County, he was
the son of John Thomas and
Emma Fou Wilder Richey.

Shane Richey, Commerce.

Grace Williams
Grace Darnell Williams, 86, of
Baldwin, died Sunday, February
17, 2008, at a private health care
facility.
Born in Habersham County on
February 25, 1921, she was the
daughter of the late John and
Katie Taylor Darnell, was retired
from Scovill Manufacturing,
and was a member of Currahee
Baptist Church. Mrs. Williams was
preceded in death by brothers,
Thurmond, Paul, Clarence and
Nace Darnell; and sisters, Beulah
Murphy and Addie Barrett.
Survivors include her husband,
the Rev. Futher Williams, Baldwin;
daughter and son-in-law, Jean and
James Meeler, Cornelia; sons, J.
Williams, Salt Fake City, Ut„ and
Darrell F. Williams, Baldwin; a
granddaughter, Kristy Meeler,
Athens.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, February 20, at
Whitfield Funeral Home with the
Revs. Roy Fee Mitchell and harry
Forrester officiating. Burial was
in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

John Kesler
John Thomas Kesler, 67, of
Nicholson, died Thursday,
February 14, 2008, at Cobb
Healthcare Center.
Born in Jackson County, the
son of the late Bethel and Annie
Mae Alexander Kesler, he was a
retired carpenter and was Baptist.
He was preceded in death by
his wife, Finda Faye Seagraves
Kesler.
Survivors include sons, Danny
Kesler, Commerce, Kim Kesler and
Kirby Kesler, both of Nicholson,
and Derrick Kesler, Hull; daugh
ters, Feslie Kesler, Nicholson,
and Fisa Abbott, Colbert; broth
ers, Garnett Kesler and Wilburn
Kesler, both of Nicholson; sisters,
Sarah Jackson, Warner Robbins,
and Barbara Jean Matthews,
Nicholson; and six grandchil
dren.

Saturday, February 16, in the cha
pel of Fittle-Ward Funeral Home
with the Rev. Dennis Kesler offi
ciating. Burial was in Howington
Cemetery.

Willie Westmoreland
Willie Gertrude Westmoreland,
91, of Ila, died Wednesday,
February 13, 2008, at her resi
dence, following an extended ill
ness.
She was the daughter of the late
William Jeff and Rosetta Wilkins
West. Mrs. Westmoreland was
preceded in death by her hus
band, Tillman Westmoreland; and
sons, Franklin Westmoreland and
Bobby Westmoreland.
Survivors include sons, Clyde
Westmoreland, Ila, and Johnny
Westmoreland, Commerce;
daughter, Gail Brown, Danielsville;
sister, Adell Peeler, Hartwell; eight
grandchildren; and eight great
grandchildren.

Friday, February 15, at Ila Baptist
Church with the Revs. Tim Peek
and Barney Williams officiat
ing. Burial was in the Grey Hill
Cemetery.

William McClure
William Howard McClure, Sr„
88, of Maysville, died Friday,
February 15, 2008, at Oak
Heritage.
He was born in White County,
the son of the late Walter E.
and Myrtle Johnson McClure.
He was a mem
ber of Mt. Carmel
Baptist Church
and was retired
from the Georgia Department
of Transportation. Mr. McClure
was a veteran, having served in
the United States Navy, during
World War II. He was preced
ed in death by his wife, Emma
Fois Craig McClure; and a son,
William Howard McClure, Jr.
Survivors include daughters,
Rumelle Wood, Commerce,
Joan Simmons, Clarksville, and
Jean Wade, Homer; a son, James
McClure, Commerce; sisters,
Faye Findsay and Mary Hayes,
both of Maysville; brothers, Ray
McClure, Maysville, and Floyd
McClure, Jefferson; nine grand
children; two great-grandchildren;
seven great-great-grandchildren;
and three step-grandchildren.

'Don' Hendrix
James Donald Hendrix, 73, of
Royston, died Friday, February
15, 2008, at the Cobb Memorial
Hospital in Royston.
He was born in Jackson County
on December 17,
1934, the son of
the late Tom Bell
and Flora hula
Nicholson Hendrix. He was a
maintenance worker, having
worked with Johnson & Johnson,
and was Baptist. Mr. Hendrix
was a veteran, having served
in the United States Navy dur
ing the Korean Conflict. He was
preceded in death by a brother,
Raymond Hendrix.
Survivors include sons,
Jimmy Hendrix, Royston, Jason
Hendrix, Gainesville, and Forrest
Sanders, Peachtree City; daugh
ters, Melinda Coile and Angela
Reed, both of Royston; broth
ers, Tommy Hendrix and Jack
Hendrix, both of Bowman; and
five grandchildren.

Clyde Oliver
Clyde Oliver, 84, of the Brown
Memorial Convalescent Center
in Royston, died Friday, February
15, 2008, at the Athens Regional
Medical Center in Athens.
He was born in Franklin County
on October 27, 1923, the son of
the late Charlie and Rilla Mac
Crawford Oliver. He was a farm
er, a textile worker and a cook
at Emmanuel College. Mr. Oliver
was of the holiness faith. He was
preceded in death by brothers,
Harold, Grady and C.B. Oliver;
and sisters, Gladys Horton, Sara
Sue Royston and Faura Jean
Findsey.
Survivors include a brother,
Herman Oliver, Social Circle; sis
ter, hula Mae Crider, Royston;
special friend, Willette Jackson,
Nicholson; several nieces and
nephews.

Monday, February 18, at the Pruitt
Funeral Home Chapel with the
Revs. John Ingham and Harrison
Fampley officiating. Burial was at
Ruhamah Pentecostal Holiness
Church Cemetery.

Felar Bell Sanders, 65, of

14, 2008, at her residence, follow
ing a brief illness.
Born in Gwinnett County, on
October 21, 1942, she was the
daughter of the late Ezra W.
Tumlin and Kate Martin Tumlin
of Fawrenceville. She was a
homemaker, and was preceded in
death by a sister, Shirley Shirley.

on Monday, January 28, 2008.

Mary Idell Fortson, 86, of
Danielsville, died Saturday,
February 16, 2008, at Athens
Health and Rehab.
She was born on January 17,
1922, the daughter of the late
Grady and Birdie Davis, and was
a retired seamstress. Mrs. Fortson
was preceded in death by her
husband, Darwin Fortson; grand
sons, Tyler and Scott Kelley.
John Johnson
John P. Johnson III, 63, of
Homosassa, Fla., died Sunday,
February 10, 2008, at his resi
dence.
He was born on September 8,
1944, at Pinellas County, Fla., the
son of the late John P. Jr. Johnson
and Ruth Parker Johnson. He was
a construction carpenter.

Born in Franklin County on June
7, 1920, she was the daughter of
the late Conner and Callie Baker
Wilder. She was a homemaker
and a member of the Royston
First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Blackwell was preceded in
death by her husband, John O.
Blackwell; and a sister, Carolyn
Wilder Harrison.
Survivors include a son, John B.
Blackwell, Dacula; and a daugh
ter, Beverly Hoppe, Fort Myers,
Fla.
