EJCHS Band Proves 'Superior'
The East Jackson Comprehensive High School band received
superior ratings in performance and sight-reading at the
Georgia Music Educators Association State Band Evaluation
held at the University of Georgia March 12-14. The band’s per
formance received many accolades for its orchestra sound
of “superior tone and technique.” The band was also praised
for its “excellent balance, blend and music expression of
various dynamic levels.” The band’s performance featured
“Generations Fanfare,” “When The Stars Begin to Fall” and an
old folk medley, “American Riversongs.”The EJCHS band will
hold a spring concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, in the EJCHS
auditorium. The band is under the direction of Jeffrey Rowser;
the principal is Dr. Patricia Stueck.The band is shown debuting
new concert attire funded by the East Jackson Band Boosters
Association.
State School Board
Member To Host
Meeting On March 27
A Georgia Board of Education member will meet with citizens of
the 10th Congressional District to address public education issues
Thursday, March 27, from 7-8 p.m.
The public meeting will be held at Jackson County Comprehensive
High School, Jefferson. The 10th Congressional District includes
Jackson, Banks and Madison counties.
Brian Burdette of the state board of education will speak. Teachers,
parents, students and concerned citizens are welcome to attend.
Those wishing to speak at the meeting are asked to sign in

'Winterguard' To Perform April 3
The East Jackson Comprehensive High School Winterguard will
give a free performance for the community from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m.
Thursday, April 3, in the school’s gymnasium.
Winterguard members are Amber Adams, Kristen Berryman,
Emily Cown, Alex Durkee, Chelsea Foster, Brittany Martin, Kristin
McFearin, Megan Pendleton, Anna Pierce, Samantha Rainey, Hilary
Rowser and Catheron Sewell.
Staff members are Jeffrey Rowser, band director; Cecilia Chandler,
executive guard mom; Brittany Coronado, instructor/choreogra
phy; Kyle Pridgen, assistant instructor; and Ashley Wright, fitness
coordinator.

Taste of East: A Family Affair, an
outdoor event slated for April 19
at East Jackson Comprehensive
High School from 6:00 to 9:00
p.m.
In addition to the many local
restaurants that will provide
food and drink, there will be
a silent auction, inflated slides
and various other activities and
entertainment as well as areas
for artisans and crafters to dis
play and sell their wares. The
East Jackson Band Boosters
hope to build a show of quality
items diverse in genre and range
of prices. Largely a fund-raiser
and intended for family enter
tainment, the Taste of East’s aim
is to acquaint residents and visi
tors with all Jackson County has
to offer.
While applications will be
accepted until all spots are filled,
participants are urged to apply
early to ensure a space. Tables,
chairs and tents will be provided
by artists for display spaces mea
suring 10 by 10. To apply for
