New Salem UMC
To Sell Chickenque
On Saturday, April 5, New
Salem United Methodist Church,
Commerce, will hold a chick
enque.
Meals will be served from noon
to 6 p.m. Meals will be eat in or
take out. Tickets are $6 and are
available through church mem
bers or by calling the church
office at 706-335-4401 and leav
ing a message.
The meal includes half of a
fresh hickory smoked chicken,
chips, slaw and a slice of home
made pound cake.
“Come enjoy a great meal and
fun and fellowship with members
of the community,’' organizers
said.
Singing Planned At
New Salem Sunday
New Salem United Methodist
Church, Commerce, will hold a
fifth Sunday evening singing on
Sunday March 30, at 6 p.m.
Sandy Horton with be the guest
praise band leader. Horton has
led praise and worship for several
churches in Northeast Georgia as
well as for the Georgia Foothills
Walk to Emmaus group. He
plays traditional and contempo
rary Christian music.
Jolly Agers To
Meet April 1
The Jolly Agers will meet
Tuesday, April 1, at noon at
the First Baptist Church of
Commerce for a covered-dish
luncheon.

Warren Chapel
To Distribute Food
Two area churches are join
ing hands in a partnership with
the Food Bank of Northeast
Georgia for a food distribution
on Wednesdays, from 6-8 p.m.

tribute food at Warren Chapel’s

Sounds Saturday, March 29, at

precede the singing beginning at
6 p.m.

To Be Held Friday
Maysville United Methodist
Church, Maysville, will hold a
“Fourth Friday Night Jubilee’’ on

The jubilee is “for all pickers,
singers and folks who enjoy good
gospel music,’’ organizers said.
“We encourage all pickers and
singers to join us,’’ they added.
There is no admission fee and
food is available.
The jubilee will be held at
the church’s annex, also called

the intersection of spur 82 and

Quality Foods Plans
Annual Singing
Quality Foods, Commerce,
and the Muscular Dystrophy
Association will hold the 8 th
annual gospel singing Saturday,
March 29.
The event will be held at the Mt.
Olive Baptist Church life center.
Musicians scheduled to perform
include Georgia, The Watkins
Family, The Divine Three, Strait
Away as well as others.
Doors will open at 6 p.m.
All donations made at the
singing will help support MDA
clinics at Emory University and
Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta,
send children to MDA summer
camps in Rutledge, assist with
the purchase of wheelchairs and
leg braces and fund research.

To Host Singing
Christian Free Worship, Homer,
will hold a singing at the Homer
American Region Saturday,
March 29, at 4 p.m. to raise funds
for a new church building.
Mercy and Grace,
Resurrections, Double Portion,

singing.
Concessions, including hot
dogs and cakes, will be sold.
Everyone is welcome.

Angel Food Ministries is cur
rently accepting orders for its
April food boxes. Orders may
be placed for the April menu
at Lebanon United Methodist
Church, Jefferson, A Call To
Salvation Ministries, Jefferson,
Zion Baptist Church, Braselton,
Antioch United Methodist
Church, Nicholson, and Faith
Baptist Church, Jefferson.
Qrders will be taken until
Monday, April 7. Boxes will be
distributed Saturday, April 19.
Organizers said the Angel Food
program is not limited to those
who are experiencing a difficult
financial time, but for anyone
wishing to save money on their
grocery bill. The cost of food box
is $30.
The April menu includes: two
pounds fully cooked meatloaf;
one pound beef fajita strips; three
pounds breaded frying chick
en; two pounds St. Fouis style
ribs; two pounds lasagna dinner
entree; one pound gourmet sau
sage; one pound fully cooked
meatballs; 16 ounces broccoli;
15 ounces refried beans; 12 tor
tillas; 26 ounces pasta sauce; 16
ounces pasta; 6 ounces pancake
mix; 16 ounces fresh carrots;
three pounds golden Yukon pota
toes; four ounces chicken noodle
soup (makes 64 ounces); four
pounds California oranges; and
one dessert item.
The first April special — avail
able for an additional $20 —
includes two pounds baby back
pork ribs; four eight-ounce thick
cut country-style pork ribs; four,
six-ounce thick-cut sirloin filets;
four, four-ounce all beef patties;
and one pound mild Italian sau
sage.
The second April special —
available for an additional $19 —
includes eight, eight-ounce New
York strip steaks.
The third April special - avail
able for an additional $18 —
includes a four and a half pound
stuffed chicken breast combo
pack: four each of Cordon Bleu,
broccoli cheese and chicken
breast kiev.
The fourth April special - avail
able for an additional $18 —
includes a senior convenience
meal box: five entrees with two
sides each, breads, milks, marga
rine and desserts. Meals includ
ed are grilled chicken breast with
rice and gravy, Salisbury steak
and gravy, macaroni and cheese,
chicken tetrazzini and beef chili
macaroni casserole.
Specials are available to any
one who purchases a regular
menu food box.
Food orders may be picked up
on Saturday, April 19, and partici
pants must bring a large box to
receive their food.
Orders may be paid by check,
cash or food stamps. Organizers
ask that orders be placed as soon
as possible.
