The East Jackson Eagles
closed out their regular sea
son on Thursday, picking up
a win against Union County
and a pair of losses to Dawson
County and Banks.
The Eagles go into the post
season with a 5-15 record (4-11
in the sub-region) sixth overall
in region standings. They will
match up with the south side
of Region 8-AA in the region
tournament.
East Jackson’s post season
will open with a best two out of
three series at Putnam County
starting at 4:30 Friday. Game
two will follow immediately.
Union County
After losing to the Panthers
back on March 18, the Eagles
went into last Tuesday’s game
looking for a little payback.
They got it, as they defeated
Union County 6-1, picking up
their third win in a row since
April 7.
“(It was a) great game, very
well played on both sides of
the ball,’’ said coach David
Robertson. “At the plate, we
were very selective and hit a lot
of baseballs hard. Defensively,
we had two errors. One
occurred when an outfielder
got turned around. The other
occurred when Zaine Hailey
robbed (Union) of a home run,
but when he hit the fence, (the
ball) came out.’’
Ethan Allred, Sam Williamson
and Brandon Rucker each had
three hits and an RBI to pace
the offense. Taylor Boswell went
2-for-3 with an RBI, and Evan
Williamson, John Robinson,
Nick Keyros and Josh Chumley
each had hits.
Sam Williamson recorded
the win, pitching seven strong
innings. He gave up three hits,
struck out 12 and walked only
one.
“It was a complete, total team
effort,’’ Robertson said. “The
kids looked great, and I can’t
say enough about how Sam
looked on the mound. It was
outstanding.’’
Dawson County
The Eagles hosted Dawson
County on Wednesday, and
late scoring by the Tigers gave
Dawson a 19-8 victory.
“The game was a lot closer
than what the score dictated,’’
Robertson said. “We gave a
walk-off grand slam to put them
up by ten in the sixth inning.
“We came out a little flat, and
I can’t say enough about how
these kids fight. We keep the
pressure on these teams. Nine
times out of ten, a team is going
to fold once they get behind,
especially when you’re dealing

Last year’s event also had a historic showdown
between father and daughter, as John Force faced
off against his daughter Ashley in the first ever
father-daughter pro-level race in NHRA history.
Ashley defeated her father, running a 4.779 to John’s
5.783.
Greg Anderson defeated Warren Johnson for the
