Bryan Recognized
Sarah H. Bryan, Commerce,
was named to the dean’s list
for spring semester at Carson-
Newman College.
To be named to the dean’s list,
a student must complete at least
12 credit hours of work and
maintain a grade point average
of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Carson-Newman College is a
four-year, liberal arts Southern
Baptist college located in Jeffer
son City, TN.

Two students from Com
merce achieved dean’s list rec
ognition at West Georgia Col
lege, Carrollton, for the spring
semester.
They were Seth Brownlee and
Spencer Lord.
To earn that recognition, they
had to attain a 3.5 or better
grade point average as full-time
students.
Named To All-State Band
Steven LaRose and Stephen Bramblett, both students at East
Jackson Middle School, were named to the Georgia All-State
Band during the school year.
Wins Two Awards
Jonah Craymer was recently
given the East Jackson Middle
School jazz band award and the
band director’s award.

Taylin Cozzens was recently
named the sixth grade band
“Student of the Year” at East
Jackson Middle School.

Celebrate End Of Year
Approximately 55 band students and alumni
from East Jackson Middle School recently met
at the Jefferson home of EJMS Band Director
David Van Buren to celebrate a successful
season of performances, awards and achieve
ments. “This was our fifth annual end-of-year
band event,” said Van Buren. “We have an out
standing group of students involved in our
band program. We appreciate their daily efforts
as well as the support we receive from the
Jackson County Board of Education, the EJMS
Administration, and the East Jackson Band
Parents Organization.”
Local Students Recognized At Piedmont College
Several area students were award
ed academic honors for spring se
mester at Piedmont College.
Students named as dean’s schol
ars for the semester have earned
a perfect 4.0 grade-point average,
and students named to the dean’s
list have earned a grade-point av
erage of 3.5 to 3.99.
