Homecoming Set Sept. 14
At Nicholson Baptist Church
Nicholson Baptist Church will hold its homecoming
event Sunday, Sept. 14, during the 11 a.m. service. The
guest speaker will be Bob Nash.
"The Browns" will provide special music during
and after the service. A covered dish luncheon will be
served after the service in the fellowship hall.
There will be no evening service.

Special Day At Jones Chapel
Jones Chapel Baptist Church, Commerce, will hold
a men and women's day program Sunday, Sept. 21, at
3 p.m.
Everyone is invited to attend.
The church is located at 5114 Waterworks Road.
First UMC To Hold Book Sale
The First United Methodist Church of Commerce will
hold its annual book sale Friday through Sunday, Sept.
12-14.
All proceeds will go to the church's Guatemala chil
dren's ministry. Book donations will be accepted at the
church office.

Antioch Holding 'Camp
Meeting Days' Through Sept. 14
Antioch United Methodist Church, Nicholson, is cur
rently holding "Camp Meeting Days" during Sunday
morning worship.
Sunday, Sept. 7, the speaker will be pastor Nancy
Boorman with music from Gloria Smith Agnew.
"Camp Meeting Days" will culminate Sunday, Sept.
14, with Antioch's annual homecoming worship ser
vice celebrating 209 years. The Rev. Don Clark will
deliver the morning sermon with the "JCCHS Advanced
Choral Ensemble" providing special music. A dinner
on the grounds will follow.

Special Day At Hurricane Grove
Hurricane Grove Baptist Church, Commerce, will
hold a men and women day program Sunday, Sept. 7,
at 3 p.m. Guests include the Rev. R.E. Cooper and the
Fork Bethel Baptist Church, Fexington.
Dinner will be served from 2 to 3 p.m.

Recognized For 'Honesty'
Each month the kindergarten classes at
Commerce Primary School select someone in
their class who best represents the “Key to
Character Award.” This month the character
trait was honesty. Left to right are (front) Landon

A Winner At Livestock Show
Faith Gilman, daughter of Greg and Charlotte
Gilman, Nicholson, participated in the University
of Georgia Summer Classic Lamb and Goat Show
at the livestock education facility on the campus
of UGA recently. Over 200 lambs and goats were
exhibited. Faith placed first in weight class and
third in showmanship class with her lamb. In the
goat show, Faith won her showmanship class
and placed first and fourth in the weight class
division and showed the reserve champion.
Martyn Earns College Degree
Thomas A Martyn of Commerce was awarded an asso
ciate of applied sciences degree in computer information
systems from Kaplan University during a commence
ment ceremony in August at the Chicago Symphony
Theatre.
Kaplan University, based in Davenport, IA, serves more
than 41,000 online and on-ground students through eight
campuses and online student support.
Westmoreland A UGA Graduate
Several Jackson County students earned degrees from
the University of Georgia during summer semester.
Among them is Dana Lea Westmoreland of Commerce
who earned a master of education degree.
