Commerce Police Department Arrests
2 Charged hi Lottery Ticket Theft
The Commerce Police
Department arrested two
men during the past week
in connection with the Jan.
21 theft of $300 worth of
lottery tickets from Ray’s
Corner Station, Washington
Street.
The store had called
police Jan. 21 to report that
a black male was still in the
store and had turned in a
winning ticket for $20. The
responding officer picked
up a suspect en route to
the store, but after looking
at the video let the man go.
Details of exactly how the
police solved the case were
not included in the arrest
report, but police charged
Clint Andrew Marable, 25,
of 410 Hill St„ Commerce,
with theft by taking, and
Jerry Lee Gillespie, 43, 158
Duncan Circle, Commerce,
with theft by receiving sto
len property.
Two DUI Charges
Police also charged two
people with driving under
the influence (DUI) of
intoxicants during the past
week.
Larry Aycock Peele,
44, 536 Poole Road,
Commerce, was charged
with DUI-drugs and failure
to maintain a lane follow
ing a 1:30 p.m. stop on
the Commerce bypass of a
vehicle the officer allegedly
saw cross the center line
and fog lines on U.S. 441.
The officer noted an
empty pill bottle in Peele’s
lap, but Peele denied taking
any medications that day,
the report said. After the
officer recovered contain
ers for Lortab, Xanax and
Methadone, Peele allegedly
admitted to taking some of
the medications the night
before and others earlier
that day. Following a field
sobriety test, the officer
took Peele to BJC Medical
Center for a blood test,
results of which are pend
ing.
In the other case, an offi
cer pulled Hugo Andrade
Lopez, 32, of 151 Hebron
Court, Commerce, over on
U.S. 441 at about 12:30 a.m.
after observing his vehicle
cross the fog line and cen
ter line several times.
The officer reported notic
ing slurred speech and the
smell of alcohol, not to
mention an open 12-pack
and open 6-pack of beer in
the back of the vehicle.
Lopez was charged with
DUI, violation of the open
container law and driving
without a license.
Other Charges
Others arrested or cited
during the past week
include:
•Oscar Orlando Meigar-
Saigueor, 23, 6514 Fracier
Court, Roswell, driving
without a license. He was
pulled over for weaving on
Interstate 85 as a result of
a lookout reported by a
motorist of a man urinating
on the side of the road, get
ting back into his vehicle
and weaving on the road
way.
• Elmer L. Jimenez, 23,211
Wexford Way, Statesville,
NC, driving without a
license and with a cracked
windshield.

•Michael Jerome

probation violation warrant
from Barrow County. He
was arrested as the officer
attempted to serve a war

Wioskowski, who was at
the same location.
•Ryan Carlton Bowles,
28, 2679 Jot Em Down
Road, Danielsville, picked

Broad St„ Athens, driving
with a suspended license

belt for a child under 6 and
failure to use a turn signal.
Upon pulling the vehicle
over for the latter charge,
the officer noted a young
child sitting in the lap of the
passenger.
• Ladonna Faye Mullinax,
27, 514 Clayton Street,
Commerce, tampering with
utilities. The city had cut off
water at the residence for
failure to pay the bill, but
Mullinax told police that her
live-in boyfriend turned the
meter back on. Since she
was listed on the account,
she was charged, the report
said. Some $ 10.38 worth of
water was stolen.
Quiet Week For City Police;
Only Three Cases To Investigate
The Commerce Police
Department investigated
only three incidents — aside
from those resulting in
arrests (see separate story)
— during the past week.
They included a report
from a Duncan Circle
resident that while he was
gone for 20 minutes late
one evening someone broke
the glass out of the window
on his front door. The per
son did not apparently gain
entry, however.
A witness told police that
Stephan Faulkner had been
at the residence “kicking
things around," and prob
ably broke the window.
The report said officers
found Faulkner at Bellview
Homes, “but due to his level
of impairment, we did not
place him under arrest," the
report said.
It also indicated that war
rants will be taken charg
ing Faulkner with criminal
trespass.
Police were also called
to a Beck Road domestic
dispute, but no informa
tion was available; and to
BJC Medical Center where
someone cut through a
security fence and stole
two three-pound bottles of
nitrous oxide from an out
door storage area.
