“We had a hard time
finding our way on
offense with Kolby
Gilbert out for the
game dealing with
a virus," said coach
Brian Turner. “We
made several runs
throughout the game
to close the gap, but
we went six for 17
from the free throw
line, and missed
numerous lay-ups."
The Eagles wrapped
up the regular season

“I was glad we could have
a good performance on
Senior Night," said coach
Amy Larimer. “Autumn,
Terin, Kaitlin and Paige
have been contributors to
the continual process of
building the Lady Eagles

be dearly missed."

pretty good chance to win," said
Bridges.
The first opponent Commerce
faces is Social Circle at 5:30 p.m.
on Wednesday. The fourth-seed
ed Tigers face fifth-seeded Social
Circle at Lakeview Academy.
“I expect Social to come out
and try to pressure us," Bridges
said. “The things we have got to
do are stop them from penetrat
ing to the basket and do a great
job on rebounding."

Wednesday’s game.
Last week the Tigers split their
final two games, picking up a
win over Towns County, but
dropping the season closer to
Athens Christian.
Against Towns County, Bridges
said Commerce executed well
on offense and shot well in the
67-49 win.
“Since the last game against
Towns, we improved a great
deal defensively," Bridges said.
“Towns has improved and it was
good for us to be able to beat
them worse than before."
At half time, Commerce led
34-27 and the Tigers continued
to extend the lead in the third
quarter to 52-36.
Leading Commerce on offense,
T. Green scored 17 points fol
lowed by Drake Cash with 14.
Channing Anderson scored nine
while Cameron Billings picked
up eight. Anthony Norris and
Brandon Romans added six each,
Deon Orsborne scored three
points and Tyler Gamble and
Bubba Bonds had two apiece.
Then Athens Christian visited
on Friday.
Bridges cited turnovers and
missed lay-ups in the second
quarter as allowing Athens
Christian to pull ahead and go
on for the win, 58-46.
Commerce led 15-11 at the end
of the first quarter, but Athens
Christian took over in the sec
ond quarter to lead 33-24 at
the half. Commerce could not
recover.
“The first time we played them
we didn’t handle their pressure,"
Bridges said, “Friday we handled
it fairly well, but didn’t play well
in the second quarter. We hope
to rebound and get them during
the tourney."
Anderson led the scoring for
the Tigers with 15. Norris put up
nine, followed by Cash with eight
and Billings with seven. Torrance
Wilcher added four points and
Green scored three.

and put the game away.
Jessie Flint led Commerce with eight, followed by Skylar
Beasley scoring five, Drea Mathis added three, Logan
Brown and Allie Morgan scored two apiece and Lauren
Jones added one point.
Friday night was an emotional evening for the Lady
Tigers as the final game of the regular season was also
Senior Night and marked the end of an era in the current
CHS gymnasium. The gym is slated to be demolished
this spring to make room for the new high school. A new
basketball facility will be constructed alongside the ten
nis courts after the completion of the new high school.
Next year the basketball season will be played in what will
become the practice gym.
The Lady Tigers ended the season against Athens
Christian on a 44-29 loss.
“Athens Christian was a better match-up for us, but we
still got off to a poor start," said McCurley.
Athens Christian led 18-11 at the half after blanking the
Lady Tigers in the first quarter. McCurley said there were
chances in the third period for Commerce to tighten up the
game, but unforced turnovers helped Athens Christian to
surge ahead and hold the Lady Tigers off.
Flint led the scoring with 10. Shekia Moon and Jones
added five apiece followed by Morgan with four, Brown
and Mathis with two each and Beasley with point one.
