Amber Bagley To Marry
Clinton K. Banks March 21

Bagley of Commerce
announce the engagement
and forthcoming marriage
of their daughter, Amber
Michelle Bagley to Clinton
Kyle Banks, son of Larry
and Gail Cain Banks of
Jefferson.
The wedding is planned
for 2 p.m. Saturday, March
21, at White Plains Baptist
Church, Jefferson.
The bride is the grand
daughter of George Trask,
Trenton, and the late Sue
Trask; and Donnie Bagley,
Commerce, and the late
Brenda Bagley.
Miss Bagley is a 2007 grad
uate of Hebron Christian
Academy, Dacula, and
attends Athens Technical
College, majoring in the
practical nursing program.
She is employed at Hill
Haven Nursing Home,
Commerce.
The groom is the grandson
of Beatrice Cain, Jefferson,
and the late Charles S.
“Junior” Cain; and Lathan
and Clara Banks, Jefferson.
Mr. Banks is a 2002 grad
uate of Jackson County
Comprehensive High School
and is employed at Havertys
Furniture, Braselton.
Alzheimer's
Program Set
On Monday
Peachtree Village Assisted
Living and Odyssey
Healthcare will hold an
“Alzheimer’s and dementia
support group and informa
tion session” on the fourth
Monday of each month.
Meetings will be held at 6
p.m. at Peachtree Village.
The Feb. 23 meeting will
feature Dr. Robert Klassen,
a board certified gerontolo
gist, with a presentation on
“stages of Alzheimer’s and
medication management.”

For Susan Harper
Elberton Theater
Group To Present 'The
Service At Rocky Bluff
Savannah River
Productions Inc., Elberton,
will present the comedy,
“The Service At Rocky
Bluff,” Friday and Saturday,
Feb. 20-21, at the Commerce
Cultural Center.
The play, written by Scott
Icenhower, features an up-
and-coming country music
band in town to play at the
state fair in its lead singer’s
hometown. The singer drops
by to see her church, which
is fearful that a visiting pas
tor search committee will
steal its beloved pastor.
“It’s a really funny sto
ryline,” promises Andrea
Bradford, who also happens
to have the lead role. “It
is a musical play, featuring
gospel music and it has a
country music band.”
The play is new, but
Bradford said it sold out
in Greensboro, NC, which
plans to bring it back.
The group plans to per
form four shows this sea
son, and hopes to bring
all of them to Commerce,
Bradford said.
Tickets are $17 for adults,
$15 for seniors and students
and $12 apiece for groups
of eight or more.

both nights.
The group also per
formed the play at the First
Presbyterian Church of
Elberton Feb. 6-7 and the
Hartwell Fine Arts Center
Feb. 14.
The Friends of the
Commerce Public Library
will hold a reception Sunday,
March 1, in honor of Library
Director Susan Harper,
whose retirement begins
that day.
The event will be from 2:00
to 4:00 at the library, accord
ing to Erica Jantzen, presi
dent.
Harper retires Saturday,
Feb. 28. She has been direc
tor of the library since 1995.

Meet 3 Georgia Authors At
Swindle library Sunday Afternoon
A “meet the authors” event
will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday,
Feb. 22, at the Harold S.
Swindle Public Library,
Nicholson. The Friends of
the Library will host the
gathering.
Three Georgia authors will
speak and will have books
available to autograph.
Jessica Floyd of Jackson
County is a self-published
author of “Hollow Eyes,” a
novel written in honor of
her father. Floyd writes in
the crime, mystery, super
natural and fantasy genres
and has a second novel,
“Imaginary Friend,” set for
release March 9.
Jaclyn Weldon White,
Hoschton, draws from her
experiences in law enforce
ment as she writes murder
mysteries, including her
latest, “Mockingbird in the
Moonlight.” She also writes
biographies and inspiration
al stories. White contributes
to local and regional maga
zines and some of her most
recent work can be found
in “Crossroad: A Southern
Cultural Annual.”
Judson Mitcham, Macon,
writes both fiction and
poetry. Mitcham’s poetry
has been widely published,
appearing in such journals
as “Harper’s,” “Georgia
Review,” “Chattahoochee
Review,” “Gettysburg
Review,” “Poetry,” “Southern
Poetry Review” and
“Southern Review.” His poet
ry collection, “Somewhere
in Ecclesiastes,” earned
him both the Devins
Award and recognition
as Georgia Author of the
Year. His first novel, “The
Sweet Everlasting,” won the
Townsend Prize for Fiction
and a second Georgia
Author of the Year award.
“Sabbath Creek,” his sec
ond novel, also won the
Townsend Prize, making
Mitcham the first writer to
receive the award twice.
He served as a psychol
ogy professor at Fort Valley
State University for 30
years, until his retirement
in 2004.
