‘Joey’Bagwell
Joseph Tyler “Joey” Bagwell,
28, passed away suddenly on
December 21, 2016.
Born in Royston, he was the son
of David L. and Jo Ann Price Bag-
well of Elberton. Joey was a 2006
honors graduate of Elbert County
High School.
In addition to his parents he
is survived by his son, Isaac Lee
Bagwell; brothers, David “Bran
don” Bagwell and Christopher
Lynn Bagwell; grandparents, Car
olyn Bagwell, Danielsville; and
the late Milton Bagwell and the
late Joel and Palina Price.
Funeral services were held
Tuesday, December 27, at Lord
& Stephens Danielsville Chapel.

tist Church Cemetery.

Baird, 67, passed away Saturday,

Phyllis served in the United
States Marine Corps. She vol
unteered at Fort Daniel Elemen
tary School and
found joy in
making stained
glass. Phyllis
was a member of
Hope Crossings Church in Jef
ferson. She was preceded in death
by her father, Henry Hutchinson;
mother, Fannie Johnson; broth
er, Keith Hutchinson; and sister,
Francie Hoyt.

of 48 years, Ron Baird; son, Ron

Rayford Bramlett
AUBURN - Rayford Bramlett,
85, went to be with the Lord on
Wednesday, December 21, 2016.
He was the son of the late
W. B. and Arlene Walker Bram
lett. Rayford
had resided
in Barrow
County for
most of his
life, where
he raised
cattle and
poultry, and
was a school
bus driver
for 28 years
for the Bar-
row Coun
ty School System. He was a
longtime member and deacon of
Bethabra Baptist Church. Rayford
was a United States Airforce Vet
eran and a member for almost 50
years of Auburn Masonic Lodge
# 230, F. and A. M. He was
preceded in death by a grand
daughter, Eley Martin Bramlett;
and siblings, Runette Cronic, Lois
Nell Sims and Dewel B. Bramlett.
Survivors include his wife,
Gloria Melton Bramlett, Auburn;
children and spouses, Ray and
Lisa Bramlett, Auburn, Anne and
Jimmy McDonald, Jefferson, Neal
and Leslie Bramlett, Eric and
Jennifer Bramlett, all of Auburn;
brothers and sisters-in-law, Leon
and Mary Bramlett, Raymond and
Brenda Bramlett, all of Auburn;
13 grandchildren; and six great
grandchildren.

DANIELSVILLE - Katherine
Beck Branyon, 87, passed away on
Wednesday, December 21, 2016.
A lifelong resident of Daniels
ville, she was the daughter of the
late Stella Mae Drake McCannon.
Mrs. Branyon was a member of
Friendship Baptist Church for over
60 years. Most importantly, she
loved spending time with her chil
dren and grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her husband,
Calvin Samuel “CS” Branyon Jr.;
brother, Bobby Beck; and sister,
Edith Eaves.
Survivors include children,
Delores (Don) Bohannon, Glenda
(Larry) Love, Beverly (Marion)
Moore and Timothy (Tara) Bran
yon; three sisters, Mary Ruth

BRASELTON - Rev. Clin
ton Earl Gooch, 82, passed away
Thursday, December 22, 2016, at
his residence.
Rev. Gooch was bom Novem
ber 12, 1934, in White County,
the son of the late Warren George
Gooch and Coral Estelle Palm
er Gooch.
He loved
preaching
and singing
everywhere
he went with
the travel
ing gospel
groups that
he sang with.
He was pre
ceded in
death by his
son, Clifton Gooch. He loved to
fish and have fish fries for his fam
ily and friends.
Survivors include his wife,
Vernelle Gooch; mother of his
children, Betty Gooch; sons, Wil
burn Gooch and wife Martha and
Johnny Gooch; daughter, Pat Cabe
and husband Stanley; eight grand
children; 19 great-grandchildren;
12 brothers; and one sister.

JEFFERSON - John Robert
“Bob” Hart, 81, died Monday,
December 19, 2016, at Northridge
Medical Center.
Mr. Hart was born in New
Castle, Pa., the son of the late
Lawrence and Opal McClymonds
Hart. Mr. Hart was a retired chem
ical engineer for the Herty Foun
dation and a member of St. Cath
erine Laboure’ Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife,
Marcella Ann Seman Hart, Jeffer
son; daughters, Doreen Hill, Com
merce, and Deanna Matthews,
Pittsburgh, Pa.; son, David Hart,
Louisville, Colo.; sister, Priscilla
Coleman, Auburn, Wash.; and
eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be
held Thursday, December 29, at
4 p.m. at St. Catherine Laboure’
Catholic Church with Deacon Curt
Marsh officiating. The family will
receive friends at the church from
3 to 4 p.m.

‘Red’ Harwell Jr.
WINDER - Franklin D. “Red”
Harwell Jr., 92, passed away Sun
day, December 25, 2016.
A native of Danielsville, he
was the son of the late Franklin D.
Harwell, Sr. and Ola Moore Har
well. Mr. “Red” married LaVerne
Jones on December 13, 1944. He
was the operator of Harwell Aero
Service and the Winder Airport for
20 years. Mr. “Red” had been a
resident of Barrow County for the
past 51 years and was a member of
Union Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife,
LaVerne J. Harwell; son and
daughter-in-law, Douglas F. and
Janie Harwell; daughter and son-
in-law, Alice and Kerry Lipscomb,
all of Winder; son and daughter-
in-law, David and Diane Harwell,
Williamson, Ga.; five grandchil
dren; four great-grandchildren;
and two sisters, Kathryn Hender
son, Dalton, Ga. and Lillian Hen
derson, Cumming.

‘Bill’Hines
JEFFERSON - William
Charles “Bill” Hines, 76, passed
away Saturday, December 17,
2016, with his family by his
side, following a long battle with
emphysema.
He was bom October 16, 1940,
in Richland, Ga., the son of the
late Martha Ruth Lunsford Eades
and William Charles Hines Sr.
He was preceded in death by two
grandchildren; and one great
grandchild.
Bill grew up in Richland,
graduating from Richland High
School in 1958.
He joined the
United States
Navy following
high school,
then married
his childhood
sweetheart,
Patricia Mon
fort, in 1960.
Bill served in
Vietnam for
two tours in the
1960s. Most of his Navy service
was based out of Norfolk and Va.
Beach, Va. He retired in 1979,
and moved his family back home
to Georgia in 1980. After four
years in Oglethorpe County, he
and Patricia moved to Carlton,
Ga., where they remained for 28
years. They moved to Jefferson in
2012 to be closer “to town” and to
their children.
Survivors include his beloved
wife of 56 Vi years, Patricia Mon
fort Hines; his three daughters,
LeAnn Lewis (Gary), Kim King
(Don) and Cheri Ashburn (Mike);
son, Charley Hines (Allie); 15
grandchildren; (four granddaugh-
ters-in-law and one grandson-in-
law); and four great-grandchil
dren.
A memorial service will be
held Thursday, January 5, at 2
p.m., at Galilee Christian Church
in Jefferson.
Flowers will be accepted or
donations may be made in his
honor to the Wounded Warrior
Project, a cause dear to his heart.

Mrs. Jackson was the daughter of

Regional Medical Center in Ath

Ms. Jordan was born in Dan
ielsville on February 24, 1935, the
daughter of the late Robert Edwin
Fortson and Susie Mae Adams
Fortson. She was an assembly line
worker having worked for West-
clock. Ms. Jordan was a member
of Community Baptist Church,
where she served as the pianist
for the church for 40 years. She
was preceded in death by her son,
Russell Edward Jordan; great
grandchild, Annabelle Grace Jor
dan; and infant brother.
Survivors include her sons

both of Danielsville; daughter, Jan

Division of the 341st Infantry.

JEFFERSON - Jerry Hugh
Wilkes, 68, entered into rest Tues
day, December 20, 2016.
Mr. Wilkes was born in Jef
ferson, the son of the late Jerome
and Sadie Anthony Wilkes.He
was a member of the Bethany
United Methodist Church, retired
from Johns Manville, and enjoyed
woodworking
and helping
others. Mr.
Wilkes was
preceded in
death by a
brother, M.C.
Wilkes.
Survivors
include his
wife, Barbara
Dowdy Wil
kes, Jeffer
son; two sons, Scott Wilkes, Bra-
selton, Keith Wilkes and his wife
Nicole, Jefferson; sister, Linda
Wilkes, Winder; and three grand
children, Hunter Wilkes, Taylor
Wilkes and Bailey Wilkes.
Funeral services were held
Friday, December 23, from the
chapel of Evans Funeral Home
with Pastor Ross Wheeler and the
Rev. Eric Shelton officiating with
burial following in Evans Memory
Gardens. Gentlemen honored as
pallbearers were George Wilkes,
Bobby Greene, Tony Beatty, Den
nis Skelton and Donnie Hall.

GILLSVILLE - Dean Michael
Brown, 66, passed away Tuesday,
December 27, 2016.
Mr. Brown was the son of
the late Tom S. and Nellie Mae
McCoy Brown. He was a mem
ber of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church
where he served as a deacon, was
over brotherhood, and was a faith
ful choir member.
Survivors include his wife,

3 p.m. Thursday, December 29, at
Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with
the Revs. James Duncan, Mike
Brown, and Wesley Jones offi
ciating. Burial will follow in the
church cemetery with the Rev.
Kevin Harrison officiating. The
family will receive friends 2 to
4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday,
December 28, at the funeral home.
