Miss Davis to wed Mr. Cates Legal Advertising
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Davis
of Millen announce the en
gagement of their daughter,
Amber Lauren, to John Ryan
Cates, son of Lynn Bowers,
the late Mark Bowers and the
late Danny Cates, all of
Millen.
The bride-elect is a 2005
graduate of Jenkins County
High School. She is also a
graduate of East Georgia Col
lege in Swainsboro with an
associate’s degree.
The groom-elect is a 2003
graduate of Jenkins County
High School. He is employed
by Millen Service Station.
The wedding will be held 5
p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2009
at West Millen Baptist
Church. No local invitations
will be sent. All friends and
family are invited to attend.

Susanne Elise Jones and Ernest
Keith Fordham were married
Dec. 27, 2008, at The Chapel in
the Pines at Guido Gardens,
Metter. The Reverend Jamie Ar
cher of Oak Hill Baptist Church
of Millen officiated.
Susanne is the daughter of Jearl
and Janice Jones of Augusta. She
is the granddaughter of Annie
Smith and the late Clyde Smith
of Metter and the late William and
Lottie Jones of Statesboro.
Susanne is employed by
Eisenhower Army Medical Cen
ter at Fort Gordon, Georgia as a
Psychometrist.
Keith is the son of John and
Janice Fordham of Portal. He is
the grandson of Velma Foskey
and the late John Foskey of
Uvalda and the late Lester and
Bertis Fordham of Portal.
He is a retired Master Sergeant
who served 20 years in the United
States Army. He is currently self-
employed.
A luncheon was held after the
ceremony at Bevrick’s Char
House Grille in Metter. The
couple honeymooned in London,
England.

The Camellia Garden Club
members had a most enjoyable
Christmas party at the Franklin
Rabitsch “White House.’’ Host
esses were Gladys Bragg, Bar
bara Bowers and Doris Rabitsch.
The "White House” and yards
were alight with attractive Christ
mas decorations including poin-
settias, Christmas trees, wreaths,
lighted Santas, snowmen, horse
and carriage, swing, windmill,
fence rails and cactuses on tables,
all carrying the most beautiful
theme, to the delight of the mem
bers.
Will Gay brought the program.
He sang Christmas carols and led
the group in singing, which all
enjoyed.
Members brought socks and
toiletries for Bethany Home pa
tients. Polly Cowart and Sue
Cox, Garden Therapy chairmen,
took the items to the patients.
Christmas stockings and a
check for patients were mailed
to Memorial Hospital in Savan
nah.
After the members exchanged
gifts, the hostesses served deli
cious finger foods and punch.
During the January meeting,
club members met and made
beautiful valentines, each in a red
envelope with a red rose at
tached, to be given to the 89 pa
tients at Bethany Home. Presi
dent Rabitsch had collected items
for the valentines.
Sandy Becton and Mary Alice
Becton served delicious refresh
ments. Bragg presented a mean
ingful devotional. Jeanette
Brantley gave the “horticulture
tips” for January. Rabitsch gave
the planned meeting dates sug
gested for the 2009-2010 club
year. Wilma Gainey, program
chairman, solicited other sugges
tions for program ideas.
