arrest was made: Two officers from
another county were in pursuit of
a negro who had broken into a
store. As they rode into Mr Lit

horses, they saw their prey sitting
with case on a chair in front of
them. They left him and went and
bought a rope —came backamlcap

Mr. E. J. Wilmot, the only 6on of
Mrs Wilmot, formerly ot Banks,
but now of Gainesville, killed him
self by taking two ounces ot lauda
num on last Wednesday evening,
in the city of Atlanta, where he had
been staying for sometime. It
seems that he had been unwell for
sometime and suffered a great deal
with a throat affection. He became
despondent, and his mind became
unbalanced, and in a tit of tempor
ary aberaticn of mind, committed
the rash deed that ended his lile.
He was a promising youth and
was considered honest and capable
by his employers, and had many
friends. During the last y T ear or
two he hsd been running ©n the
railroad, and had won his way up
to a nice, responsible position. The
news of his death was telegraphed
to his mother and sister in Gaines
ville, but they did not reach him
until lit® was extinct. It was in
deed a terrible shock to them, and
they have the sympathy of Iriends
in this section.
