Misses Josephine Pitts returned

address at the Academy Monday
evening, which was heard by a

Mr. and Mrs. 1. M. Henderson
went, over to Dalton Thursday on
a visit to the latter's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. L. T. Hnmmontree. Mr.
Henderson returned home Mon
day but his wife will remain in
Dalton for several days.
The pupils of Summerville Acad
emy are hard at work this week
on examination papers. They
cer.ainly deserve larger and more
comfortable quarters.

A Delightful Occasion
Mrs. O. A. Selman charmingly
entertained at a “spend-the-day
party” Tuesday, in honor of Mrs.
('laud Williams of Atlanta.
Those present were, Mrs. Low

J. 31. Bellali, Mrs. A. 8. Hinton,
Mrs, W. W. Hinton, Mrs. W. B.
Hinton, Miss Mary Penn and
Mrs. Claud Williams.
The case of Will Howt-11, charg
ed with selling liquor, was tried
before the town council Tuesday
afternoon. Howell was recently
tried and convicted before May;
or Rivers and a fine of $25 and
cost was assessed against him.
He appealed the case to council.
The. decision of the mayor was sus
tained by council and Howell was'
tained by council and Howell has
paid the fine and cost. The
mayor held in abeyance, the al
ledged offence against the state
on promise of good behavior in
future.
The people of the town are al
most unanimous in lending their
support to 1 the authorities in their
efforts to completely suppress the
liquor traffic.
