PROGRESS 3N
THEJIEW ROAD
$7,703 has Been Raised on
Danielsville Railroad.
The citizens of Danielsville and Mad
ison county are pushing' the prospect for
the new railroad fr:<m Five Forks
to Danielsville in grec.t style and the
consummation of the enterprise is now
near at hand
Col. James M. Smith’scoffer to the
Danielsville people was that if $10,000
could be raised by them, he would build
the new road, depots, etc., and furnish
equipment.
The six miles of roadbed and equip
u Five Folks and Daniels-
riile would cost approx .mately $50,000.
The citizens at once started to raise
the .*10,000, and up tc yesterday had
succeeded iu getting $7,700. A commit
tee visited Athens ami secured over
$1 from Athens’ citizens and hope to
get more here.
The new road is practi cally now a cer
tainty, and the men behind it say work
will begin on its construction during the
fall.
In case it is built, it would be of great
bem lit to Athena and open up much
new territory.
