days. She had set apart last Tues

decorate the grave of their beautiful
daughter who died a few years ago.
Feeling unwell, she did not go, but
to-uio 1 tow, just one week from that
day, she will be laid by the side of
that daughter, Mrs. Hays was a
most estimable lady, and well belov
ed by a large circle of friends who
will miss her. We extend to the
stricken father and son our heartfelt
sympathy. _
Three Instead of One.
It has been a foregone conclusion
all along that 1888 would witness the
election here of a cotton press, for it
would be an absolute necessity. The
chances now are that we shall have
three instead; of one. The elements
that have fought us in the past have
about given up the job as a bad one,
and cotton will begin to pour in here
another season as never before. Many
places in the cotton bolt have learn
ed through Mr. Symons ttfat cotton
can be and will be shipped from here
direct to England and at less delay
and expense, hence it is coming.
