We hud a call this morning from
the Secretary of the Brunswick Land
Company, Mr. J. B. F. Grady, of
Orange Valley, New Jersey. Mr. G.
i9 an old friend to Brunswick, ami
has come down to see for himself
what lias been accomplished. One
of his greatest regrets is that his
time honored friend, Col. C. L. Schlat
ter was not permitted to live to sec
the grand advancements mado here,
for bo it known that few men worked
harder than that gentleman for the
development of this city. Mr. Grndy
is a large real estate owner here ami
is pleased with all he has seen. Mr.
J. M. Dexter is Mr. Grady’s agent
here in looking after his property.
They Continnl to Come.
The fame ot Brunswick has gone
abroad and now every train and boat
brings people hero who como to see
for themselves. Some come to in
vest in property; some come to en
gage in business,"and others “como
to soo”-r-to spy out tho land and to
see for themselves with a view to fu
ture action. To this latter class wo
say now is your golden opportunity;
come with tho incoming tide and
reap tho rich harvest, for our oppor
tunities are flattering indeed, our
growth is solid, and thoso who have
sought to harm us haye given up the
attempt as fruitless, a».d arc now
working with us.

WATERS MOYING!
Notes from the Darien Gazette.
Rice planting has been commenced
on the Altamahn.
We really think that Darien ought
to control the up river trade.
It is reported that woodcocks have
mado their appearnneo on tho river a
few miles above Darien.
Capt. Wright’s new boat will draw
less water than the Florence and con
sequently can go over Couper’s Bar
at almost every stage of tho tide.
The railroad will bo completed in
time, it is thought, for the Gazette
to give that cxcurson on tho Fourth
of J uly.
Tho new jail will look quite hand
some from the outside; but, oh! how
small.
Still Another.
Among the new comers to our city

The E. T. V. & G. R. R. will estab
lish this week a Packet Line between
New York ami Brunswick for the
benefit of interior shippers. This
may lead to something else in the
near future. Thus it will he seen
that the recent visits of the officials
Bob Taylor, tbe man who fiddled
his way to the election of Governor
ofTenncssee, is not so popular with
the papers of his State. Of seventy-
two journnls which have published
their preferences, thirty-nine are
against Taylor's re-nomination.

It may not be generally known, for

Nor that-a hotel worth a half mill

Nor that a steam laundry of ele

Nor that a factory for the manu

is nearly ready to begin work;

are planning some big schemes that

The Next State Fair.
The prospects for the State Fair to
be held in Alacou next October arc
very flattering. They have not per
haps, been so good fqr a number of
years. Although the time for hold
ing the fair is yet distant, tho inter
est taken in it is very great.
Most of the railroads of the State
have already agreed to transport all
agricultural exhibits both ways free
of charge, and those which have not
will probably do so. This liberal ac
tion on the part of the rftads will add
considerably to the number of coun
ty exhibits. One of the most at
tractive features of the two cxliibi
tious in Georgia last fall was the
county displays. Thcso displays were
not only interesting and instructive,
but they were highly creditable to
the Slate of Georgia and an honor
and benefit to the progressive coun
ties that made them.
Terrell county proposes to contest
for the $1,000 prize for the best coun
ty exhibit at the next State Fair.
She can win it if her farmers will but
act in concert, for there is not a rich
er country or a piore intelligent class
of farmers in the Stale than can be
found in Terrell.
