. The Contract,
Whilst our peopleand their North
ern guests ore simply basking in tho
delightful snnshine of the finest cli
mate on the continent, tho wires
bring us the sad intelligence that our
neighbor! a little higher up are actu
ally freezing to death. All business
on Hroadwuy, Now York, was sus
pendod yesterday, teams were un
hitched, and wagons left standing on
tho streets, and ono poor woman was
actually frozen to death. Some of the
railroads could send out no trains.
Now contrast all this with the genial
spring weather wo are now enjoying,
with flowers In full bloom, and peach
and pear trees covered with blooms,
Look on this picture and then on
that, and say which you prefer.

But as soon as the eyes of our pro

ho says will be verified in less than a

So tho witlow crabbed u plank,

Five in AH.
Five families in the eastern portion
of the city not willing to wait for the

to havo their own wells, and to that
end have bought an engine and drills
and secured the necessary piping.
Tho company will dig five wells, one
