soldier's ration shall bo:
“By direction of the secretary of war,
paragraph 8,160 of the regulations, is
amended to read as follows: '■
“2,100. A ration is tho established
daily allowance of food for one person.
For tho United States urmy it is now
composed as follows: Twelve ounces qt
pork or bacon or canned beef (fresh or
corned) or ono pound and four ounces of
fresh beef, or twenty-two ounces of salt
beef; eighteen ounces of soft bread or
' flour, or sixteen ounces of hal'd bread, or
ono pound and four ounces of corn meal.
To every 100 rations fifteen pounds of
beans or peas, or ten pounds of rico or
t hominy; ten pounds of green coffee, or
eight pounds of roasted (or roasted and
ground) coffee, or two ]>ounds of tea:
fifteen poundB of sughr; four quarts of
vinegar; ono pound and eight .ounces of
adamantine or star candles; four pounds
ofsonp; four pounds of salt; four ounces
of pepper, and to troops in tho field,
when necessary, four pounds of yenst
powder to tho 100 rations of flour.”—

AN ORDINANCE
To declare standing pools of water,
and low or wet places within the
limits of the city of Brunswick, a
nuisance, and to provide for the
abatement of same.
Section!. Beit, and it hereby ordained by
the Mayor and Council of tho city of Brunswick,
in Council assembled, that from and after tho
passage of this Ordinance, the allowing pools of
water to stand for any length of time, upon any
lot of land, within tho limits of said city, is detri
mental to tho public health and safety and is
hereby declared to bo a nuisance; nnd each and
every owner of any lot in said city upon which
pools of water collect, is hereby required, upon
a written request of tho Board «f Health of said
city, to fill up such lot with additional earth, or
to ditch and drain said lot, so that such standing
water shall bo removed therefrom, and all wet

that if any owner of such lot, upon receipt of
such notice and request from the Board of
Health, as prescribed in the preceding section of
this Ordinance, shall fail or refuse to comply
therewith, it shall be the duty of tho Murshul of
said city to cause said nuisance to be abated and
said lot to be filled up or drained, ami after so
doing shall file with tho Clerk and Treasurer of
said city a statement of the amount of the ex
penses incurred by him in so doing, nnd there
upon the Clerk ana Treasurer aforesaid shallis-
8iie an execution against the lands and tene
ments, goods and chattels of thcowner or owners
of said lot, for the amount so expended hy the
said Marshal, which execution shall be levied
and collected by the Marshal, by levy and sale,
ns is done in cases of delinquent tax payers.
Be H further, in like manner ordained, that
all rodinaticos or parts of ordinances, in conflict
with this Ordinance lie and tho same are hereby
repealed.
