purpose of pressingcotton or hay,as the frame,screw
pin, and leavers are all of wrought iron. It should

through the floor, ns the ordinary press—the leverd
being only five feet iu length—to have the width of
the house and 18 or 20 feet in length, the lint could
then be plaoed all around the screw. Then a man
can take five hands ami pack as many five-hundred
pound-bales in one day, with a* little labor to the
liiiud, ns the sumo five and two more, with a horse,
euu oil tile wixi-*erew in the same time. T.fiire
hand* can put tomme nd take it down, and it can be
carried atone load with four mules to any point.—
