TO PUNTERS!
BU>yK2BEB9(
I AM Hwnri; that in presenting my PLANTER to
the public, 1 have to contend with the prejudice*
ereatefl by the failure of other invention* tor the like
purpose. I flatter myself, however, that my PLAN
TER will porlbrui the work proposed, in a sntisfac
tory manlier. lam strengthened in that conviction,
bv the opinion of nearly ail the PRACTICAL FAR
MERS of Thotiias aml adjoining rountie* who have
etalniaivl it; and the judgpicut *'l the meiuhera ol
the l’ateu* t iflipe, who prouonnee it to be by far the
heat PLANTER that has ever been presented to
them.
It ia intended to plant Corn and Cotton, and to
■mw grain of all kind*. For eomiug Wheat broad
cast aiul harrow iug iu at the same time, it eaonot he
eipialh'd. Lean he uaed for putting out Guiana,
either by strew ins or by putting any desired quanti
ty at any givea-diatance. The distance proposed to
drop the seed is graduated by the ..umber of coga
and the quantity by the size.
A glance at the PLANTER shows the amount of la
bor saved by its use, sod the nature and accuracy of
the stupe. A man and horse lays out the row, drops
tlie seed and cmers it, in ttm same time anil with
the sume labor that it takes, in the usual war, tin
lay out the row. Tim-aid given by the wheel ren
ders it equally aa easy to the horse aa a single plough.
It being impossible for AN V ONK MAN to bring
it to toe nuiiei-of every farmer, or to supply the de
mand when exhibited, I propose toarjl the right to
any Stale or eounty, or number of eosntiea, that
any one may desire, and at rates that the purehaaer
will mahe money. I trust no ope will condemn i
without an examination, because it ia the invention
of a Southern-mnn. If, however, after examina
tioa, they reject it, I hare nothing to say.
