Wc spent a short time t the home of
Miss Susan 'l ittle. Here lives a most
agreeable and plca.-anl family, cosisting
of Mr. David Tittle and sister. Miss Sue.
Mr. 'l’ittje ia unmarried, a refined gen

We were at the home of our worthy

day or two; where the hunts sped pleas

his ttioctiou of a help-mete. Little An

little girl, very sweet, and destined fo
be a charming woxan.
We spent awhile with Mr. W. G
Carroll, famiiiariy known as “Buck,”
whom we found to be a clever, socia
blo gentleman, with a most agreeable
i wife and pleasant family. “Buck” is
well fixed-—possessing a good comforta
ble dwelling, farm ike., and will make
lots of corn.
Wo spent an evening very pleasantly
at the house of Mi. P. A. Holley. Mr.
Halley and his excellent voting wife are
just starting in life, as it were, are very
comfortably situs led, and have the hap

feel at home.
We had tho pleasure of forming the
acquaintance of Mr. Hannah, the agent
at that place, a pleasant and accommoda

It does a person good to see the smile
of contentment that rests upon the av
erage farmer’s face in consequence of
the splendid and unexpected yield of
that life preserving article, corn. It
was thought some months since that the
crop was a failure; but, as a general
thing, the yield is good. We do not
know, but suppose the yield will aver
age about 25 or 30 bushels per acre. The
grand secret of the success of the fanner
is cultivation. Those that Jo not culti
vate (in the full sense of the term) are
very certain to not gather a large yield.
