The caae la an Important one to the
brewers of the state, as, ts It Is decided
adversely to the Macon brewery. It will
have the effect of putting every brew
ery tn the atate out of business.
The case r’ume up from Judge Mat
thews' court In Bibb county, and Is
an Injunction appeal. The Acme brew
ery admits to manufacture a malt
beverage but not un "Intoxicating
beverage,*’
The Law Enforcement league of
Macon Molds that vtrf laws of Georgia
prohibit the manufacture and sale of
all malt liquors
Every brewery In the state admits
manufacturing malt liquor, but none
of the readmit that their product ts
Intoxicating.
If the supreme court holds that the
manufacture of malt liquor Is lllegul,
every brewery In the state must close.

Underwood’s Election to U. S.
Senate Won’t Change Home
Leadership Until March 1915
Washington. Oscar Underwood’s
election In the senate from Alaburna
will not change the democratic house
leadership before March 4. 1915. Mean
time, Representative Kltchln of North
Carolina has secured what he says are
more than enough pledges to assure
him the democratic leadership In suc
cession to Mr Underwood and the
chairmanship of the ways and means
committee, If the democrats retain
control of the house of the next con
gress.
The Alabama election marks the
passing of Representative Hobson and
the coming of Wm. 11. Bankhead In
his place. Mr. Bankhead Is the son
of Senator Bankhead and made the
speech that placed Mr. Underwood Ilf
nomination for the presidency at the
Baltimore convention. It has been re
ported ai the capital that If Mr. Hob
son wore defeated In the present sen
ntnrshlp contest he planned to enter
the race for the senatorshlp against
Senator Bankhead, whose term ex
pires In 1919.
Aside from the Underwood election
contest, Thief Interest here In the Ala
bama returns mainly centered In the
fight of Representative Henry I). Clay
ton for re-election from the third dis
trict. tie had been expecting a close
