The annual Y. M. C. A. reception
to the student body of the Academy
of Richmond County wan given thin
afternoon at the Y. M. C A Building,
only the cadets and faculty of the
school being present. The competitive
drill Mas the event of the occasion.
Beery year It L the policy of the
Yr/tng Men's Christian Association of
t)fiH city to give to the best drilled

deal of Interest Is shown by the ca
dets In this drill. To avoid bringing
the whole battalion to the 11-soda
tkm building for the drill a special
squad is selected from each cotupan)
by that company's captain. The
squad from which the winner Is
picked consists of the selected men
from the four companies of the
school.
After the drill, which Is usually
held In the gymnasium, all of the rn
dets o ftho school retire to the par
detß of the school retired to the par
served. The afternoon toda> was one
of the most enjoyable ever given by
the loeal association.

high coat of living on home missions was
pointed out In the annual report of the
executive committee of home miss on
presented to the 64th general aseornbly

Hot Doings if Burns Returns.
Several Persons Said to Have
Left Atlanta.
Atlanta- There will he some hot
doing* hat ween the local detective de
partment and the local courts and De
tective William J. Burns if the latter
really return* to Atlanta tomorrow, as
Id* representatives say he will, to face
the charges of contempt and violation
of the city ordinances which have been
formally lodged against him.
Fhief of Detective* l.anford, of the
city foice, declares that he has ample
evidence to convict Burns and at leas*
seven or eight of his aides on the
charge of violating the city ordinance
regulatln; the operations of private
detectives.
Several true hills charging perjury,
false swearing and bribery are being
drawn, it is stated at the court house,
by the Fulton county grand jury to
day, In connection with the Investi
gation of the case
It is rumored that a number of the
private Individuals whose names are
mentioned in the hills of Indictment
are planning to leave the city before
warrant* can he issued for their arrest,
and that some of them have already
fled
